Thread Starter
Searched and didn't see anything about this, and it looked really cool with amazing engineering.
Quote:
The Cotton Candy is a USB stick sized compute device allows users a single, secure point of access to all personal cloud services and apps through their favorite operating system, while delivering a consistent experience on any screen. The device will serve as a companion to smartphones, tablets, and notebook PC and Macs, as well add smart capabilities to existing displays, TVs, set top boxes and other media that supports USB mass storage.

This looks awesome, just to mess around with, and have all of your things with you when you want to go to another computer. Its amazing how much they fit in there, and that it can handle 1080p! Will definitely be buying when it comes out. Just wanted to let you guys know.

EDIT: Sorry, I really thought I had put a link in there, just went back to look and it didn't. Sorry!

So... does anyone know what this thing actually is useful for? Cause I simply don't get it.

It's a little computer... K gotcha.

It needs to plug into an existing computer to work. Erm... well... ok.... WHY NOT JUST USE THAT COMPUTER THEN?! confused.gif

Yeah, sure. If you're rocking a chromebox maybe.

Ok in all seriousness, yes, one day we will likely have computers as powerful as today's, but pocket sized. That said, they will be pathetically weak compared to anything desktop sized for the time.

An ARM GNU/Linux box for $25 or $35 with Ethernet. They are auctioning the beta boards right now but are supposed to have the regular boards for sale sometime soon.
