+1 on the 64GB Crucial M4 if you can afford it, it is a very reliable drive.

Although he wouldn't need 850W of power if he was going to have a single GTX 570 (It would be alright for SLI) 650W should do you fine.

as soon as i see someone doing work related things where reliability is key i can't recommend something like the vertex 3 or other newer drives.

we've had 20+ vertex 3's, agility 3's etc. come back faulty within like six months.. understandably some people might not know how to take care of their ssds and whatnot but either way; not a risk i'd take or want others to take if i can steer them different tongue.gif

intel, crucial and older SATA II drives have proven very reliable to me in the past.

the 850W is so he can add another one later on if need be.

I'm in Melbourne. I'm not the biggest fan of water cooling; I get a bit paranoid that it will fault and leak. I'll take the SSD into mind.

Thanks.

Honestly hittingray, I would defiantly suggest to get the Crucial M4, read up some reviews on it, you will not regret buying it.

i don't consider the hydro series or kuhler series "watercooling" tongue.gif
no need to worry; personally NEVER heard any horror stories.

i used to steer clear from them before, but honestly LOVE them now and use them in most builds because; a) they perform great and b) they don't take up as much room or look clunky like traditional air coolers ie. NH-D14 (which is an amazing heatsink, but is pretty big)

either way, good luck with the build and let us know how it goes smile.gif

Ok, I've decided I'll pick up a Crucial M4 64 GB as opposed to the Vertex 3.

Good choice, I am also picking one up this weekend (128GB model if your wondering).

Please let us know how you build goes.

Another question: What would you think if I decided to swap out the P8Z68-V-PRO for a Z68XP-UD3? It has all the ports I need and seems to be significantly cheaper. The only problem is it has a mere 7 power phases, which may be an issue. If I do drop it down, I'll have enough to get two Tis. I realised I left a part out on the list that I'm not going to use any more and forgot to subtract it.

Edit: Ok, so I decided I'd get rid of the two 200mm fans; it was a bit plenty and case has plenty of air flow already (155 CFM in; 135 CFM out). This allows me to get 2 GB 560 Tis for $249ea. I can probably skip out on one optical drive for now as well.

i personally don't like the ASUS P67/Z68 board AT ALL, with the exception of the ROG series ones. each to their own, but those curve light blue heatsinks just get to me, and the poo brown PCB isn't sexy b!
the UD3R is a great board and will do you nicely; if you want a step up, for a litle bit more, go for the UD3P.

last UD3P build i did is a rock solid 2600K @ 4.5GHz by a H80; didn't try higher as that's what the customer wanted, but either way, it won't be an issue smile.gif
