SSD best option for me? - Page 2

I am going with a 128GB M4 from Newegg. With free shipping and no taxes it is the cheapest I can find. Matching this up with a Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB.

Very true lol. Plus where my wife goes to school almost there and her mom literally lives 5 minutes away from the store.. I could get them to pick em up for me. Thats a killer deal on those Seagate HD's by the way you sent me a link to. Very cheap. I've always heard bad things about Seagate HD's but i've had a Seagate external HD for at least 5 years and it works perfectly.

So think is what i'm thinking on my SSD/HDD setup.

Boot- Crucial M4 128GB
Programs & Music- My couple of years old WD Black 640GB AALS
Storage- Couple of 1TB drives. Still haven't figured out which ones. Probably either some F3's or maybe those Seagates that you showed me TheJesus. Just wondering if the 32mb cache on those are close in performance to the more pricey 64mb cache drives.

I swear i've had a terrible time picking out the parts i want. Current confliction is either a 2500k, 2600k or wait for an ivy bridge. Which mobo to get, which i think i narrowed it down to atleast a Z68 board. Nvidia or ATI. And of course the hard drives.

I've never had an issue with Seagate, but that's me, hah.

I just picked the first one that was cheap and in stock, there's probably better like a Western Digital Caviar Black, but it'll be pricier. The 32/64 doesn't make a big enough difference, especially for storage.

Lol, its really hard when everything new is about to drop but you want something now, lol. Unless you're doing video encoding or CPU intensive tasks, there's no point to get the 2600K (unless they have the free BF3 deal still going on Newegg, then its like an extra 5 bucks for it, lmao). Ivy Bridge is still quite a bit away, so that's a little bit harder to decide. Mobo, I would suggest Asus ROG boards, they're definitely my favorite overall. ATI is better for the price IMO.

Also, don't forget the 7000 series comes out next month, lol.

Well TheJesus this is a slow build. I am not going to be putting this system together overnight. Buying piece by piece over the next month or two. The components listed are the ones i have so far. Got the power supply today from newegg actually.. A Seasonic x650 modular. I'm honestly banking heavily on the i5 2500k. The GPU is probably going to be the last thing i'll buy soooo i'd say the 7000 series will be out by the time i'm ready to buy.

Only bad thing about wanting a Z68 board that ROG from ASUS is that one is a MIcro ATX board and the other is an Extended ATX. Don't want a micro board and the extended is 340 bucks. I want one because i'd say eventually i'll be wanting to upgrade to an Ivy Bridge later on.

Don't hate on the mATX, lol. Its pretty legit.

I can understand the slow build, lol.

Y u no love Sabertooth? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131702

I don't know what the differences are, but I always thought the Sabertooths were better.

A great board and there is a club on OCN that will give tons of support with it. They all have been having great results with this board.

To be honest when i first started piecing my build together that board was my favorite for a long time. Love the looks of it and a 5 year warranty= awesome. But then i read a bunch of peoples reviews and they said they were worried about dust getting stuck in the armor and now newer boards have the pci 3.0 slots for the same price. Maybe by the time i buy a motherboard the next gen sabertooth will be out.

This board does have PCI 3.0. As for dust...I have a mini compressor that sits next to my system.

EDIT: I'm Dumb. thumb.gif
