Good question, I've read lots of stuff about people complaining about it!

yes i dont quit understand this ?

But its in the mid 70% on one card and really play much better .

Detail increases on 2 as it should but it just Judders .

BD is no better than a phenom x6 at gaming, just look at BF3.

Do you have the video cards overclocked? Again, is it runing smoother with one card rather than two?

Yes both card are overclocked to 900 on GPU and 1950 on Mem .

Have tried them at standard same results ?

Have I had it wrong all this time?

You've got a totally wrong impression of what a bottleneck is.
It has nothing to do with CPU usage; it's the GPU usage that indicates whether a CPU is bottlenecking or not.
If your graphics cards are not constantly running at 100% in games, then your CPU is bottlenecking them, simple as that. CPU usage has nothing to do with it, because for example a 2500k running at 60-70% would most likely be enough to fully utilize both GPU's while an FX4100 would still bottleneck even at 100% CPU usage. GPU usage is the important factor.

This post of the OP is a perfect example and pretty much proves that his system is heavily being bottlenecked by the CPU.
The GPU usage graphs show an average of 50-70% usage while his CPU is running at full 100%.

You can bench it all you want and compare it to the other chips, and talk about how it's a disappointment, but suprisingly the FX 4100 runs much smoother at 4.0ghz than my 965 did at 4.1ghz. I'll bench it this weekend and give some results if anyone is interested.

You can talk whatever you want, but it's an undeniable fact that BD is way slower clock for clock than Phenom II.
Going from a 965 @ 4,1 GHz to a FX-4100 @ 4,0 GHz is a HUGE downgrade, motokill36 posted Cinebench scores earlier in this thread and showed that a 4 GHz Phenom II was still faster than a 5,0 GHz FX-4100, so you pretty much failed with your "upgrade".
If it runs smoother then its either your pure imagination trying to justify the new cpu or something was wrong with your old system.
If you bench both systems you'll see that the Phenom will reach higher fps and scores in every game.
It's really a shame to see those Xfire'd 6970's wasted as the FX is bottlenecking the hell out of them.

I still don't get how blinded people are and still go the Bulldozer route especially with SLI/CF setups eventhough reviews have proven how much of a terrible chip it is for gaming.

Well that's quite obvious. Since the cards aren't as fast, then don't need to be fed new data to process as fast. Simple logic. tongue.gif
And as has been stated several times now, CPU usage doesn't really matter all that much. What you need to do is to look at the GPU usage and if it isn't constantly running at above 95%-ish, your cpu is bottlenecking you. Simple as that.

I checked real quick, the game still uses SLI.

I have the latest (285.79) beta drivers and the performance for me at least, actually went up from previous drivers (at least it seems that way to me). Before I was getting around 70 avg with everything maxed out, now I'm getting closer to 80 or better.

I'm not sure what settings you were using, but here's mine with it maxed out at 1080p, 470s at are 850 core, 2000 mem.

d018d8d2.png

Even with my i5 at 5GHz I'm still getting quite a bit of cpu usage. Granted my 470's are a bit faster than your 460's, but that would just mean the cpu has to work harder. Even with an i5 it's getting up there in usage.

So Balla, does that mean the 4100 is doing an okish job??

I dunno, he posted some where it seemed fine, others where it seemed horrible.

I would like to see a screen with the gpus overclocked, and the usage of both the cards and cpu while in FULLSCREEN.

There could be a problem running the game windowed, if he's running it windowed to show poor usage it might be meaningless, however if the low gpu usage is from fullscreen mode than there is clearly a problem. The only question that matters then is does it matter to the OP or not.
