No love for OCCT ? - Page 2

Great then I will do as before mainly use OCCT as it loads way more and as you says even can stress the GPU so thats nice, all in one package biggrin.gif
When I was O/C the Q6600 OCCT error in some minutes as in P95 could takes 10 times longer!

After you o/c your CPU and GPU to max then to use the power suply test must be the best as it stresses the whole comp right ?

From what I have read and seen while OC'ing my sig rig, P95 blend (with close to 100% ram usage) is the best test for total system stability testing in SB systems. I did start with OCCT, cause that is what I used for my gen one i5 OC. However on this rig, OCCT tested well for 3 hours, I then ran the hard FFT's in P95 and had errors in mins.

Just my 2 cents...

I find OCCT 4.0 very practical and it's really deadly accure in detecting whether my OC is stable or not.

I ran Linpack for an hour, prime 95 for 2 hours. No errors came up. Then i fired up CPU:OCCT Test Mode: Small Data Set, DANG i received error. Upped the Vcore a notch and it became stable. Then i switched to Medium data set.. again i got error. upping the vcore a bit more remedied that too. now it runs stable for hours in both modes.. no errors whatsoever. so if i were to trust prime95 and linpack i'd be using an unstable chip now... see what i mean?

Lesson from this story is that you should use a large variety of stress testing applications. Because if a program can't detect the unstability, another will.

How do I set up P95 to use most of my 8GB memory ?

Run P95 in custom mode. Only change the Memory to use setting to 6500 or so if you have 8gb ram.

I run LinX. 50 passes. If it fails I read the BSOD codes and adjust voltages as needed. After 50 passes are complete with no errors. I leave it. If It crashes during gaming, movies or normal use, I get the BSOD codes and adjust voltages as needed. Those days of stressing my cpu for hours and hours are over. I dont have time for prime 95 anymore.
