Hotmail was Hacked into :O

Thread Starter
I haven't been on my email for at least 4-5 weeks and today when I went to log in it said that my email address has been attempted to log in too many times so it asked me for a captcha vitrifaction, I kept typing the captcha and password in but it still wouldn't log me in. now it's telling me that the account has been blocked from being logged into because of too many log-in attempts. not only that but my second email also has this same exact thing, is there anything I can do?

I've contacted customer service but they emailed me back saying the information was incorrect so I'm trying again and hoping I gain access. is there anything else I can do to regain access of my accounts? considering Microsoft doesn't have a support phone number for hotmail, who do I contact if I can't get into it again? the police?

btw I've ran an AVG scan on my computer which I think is a good anti-viurs

Sorry to hear your email was hacked into, unfortunately, there's nothing you can do right now if they've reset your security questions / set up a second fake email that will send the password reset confirmation to. All you can do is contact their support and hope for the best. All I can do is give you tips to avoid this in the future very easily.

1. Surf smart, don't go to questionable websites that contain harmful scripts.

2. Don't make your security questions simple or anything that can be pulled off of your Facebook. For example, say one of your security questions is "Date of Birth" well, anyone who's friends with you on Facebook can easily go and pull up your Facebook and see when your birthday is. Same thing goes for "Pet's name", "Place of Birth", you name it. What I'm trying to say is, when picking a security question, make it completely random to the real answer.

Like if it asks what your Pet's name is, normally you'd put your pet's name, right? However, put like "lol12345" or something completely random that you can't pull off of a social networking site.

3. Set up a secondary / optional email using the same tactics as above. That way if somehow someone does get into your main email, you can reset the password using the optional email.

Hope I helped smile.gif
