Help me pick a new Z68 Board?

Thread Starter
I am upgrading from a 1090T to a 2500k and need help picking a new board to go with it. I have a budget of £150.

I would like PCI-E 3.0, Ivy Bridge support, SLI / CROSSFIRE support at atleast 8/8, good cooling for overclocking, Click BIOS and ports for my SSD.

I have been looking at these boards...are they any good? Which would you go for? Would you suggest a different board? If so which?

MSI Z68A-GD65-G3 Intel Z68

Asrock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Intel Z68

Many thanks

Do you really need PCI-E 3? And click bios, any reason the GUI is important to you? For 'good cooling' driver-MOSFETs used by Gigabyte and MSI run cooler, but probably not a real thermal issue unless doing extreme OC and water cooling. If you'll use a nice heavy heatsink for the 2500k and move your computer a lot I'd avoid Asrock for peace of mind, they use thin, bendy PCBs. You could choose any mid-range board based on features you like, they all perform the same really. I'm a Gigabyte fan but it's splitting hairs.

I don't prefer either of them, I would get the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 or the ASUS P8Z68-V/GEN3 PRO. They're much better.

Thanks for your help so far.

I have always had asus boards in the past, that gen3 model looks nice.

I wanted a click BIOS as it seems a conventional BIOS is being phased out with new boards so i dont see the point in buyingf one with the old style

I think it means choose ASRock over MSI.

I prefer the MSI colour coding on the board and im a little unsure about the gold capacitors on the ASRock but both look like great boards!

I too usually go with ASUS boards and honestly you can't go wrong getting P8Z68-V/GEN3 or P8Z68-V/GEN3 PRO but Gigabyte UD4 B3 looks great as well.
