Hey guys i have ditched my plans on upgrading my joke pentium d computer. Now i would like to build a new rig that would play modern games now like battlefield 3, Modern warfare 3 on mid- high W/O lags! Seems like i would need you help with a build of just under 500 if that could be squezzed in!

Current joke computer : pentium D 3.2ghz
2gb ram
powercolour 5670 amd
160gb hard drive
I would be skimping on the Gpu as i have this low-mid end card already(As these games still could be played on this).
These are my current thoughts on the hard ware

CPU:
Mobo:
PSU: Help needed here!
GPU: Pcolour 5670 amd (Would upgrade next year.... frown.gif)
Ram: Help needed here! 4gb
Hard Drive: Help needed how bout samsung spinpoint f3
No ssd!
Case: A big one as i need it for future upgrading preferably super airy.
Sound card: Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium? ( a Cheaper one if there is >? HELPSS)
Dvd: taking it from the old build!

Thats all i can get right now but i would need help on getting the cpu probably an amd cpu thats bang for the BUCK! Probably a good quality pus as i would want it to be use for a long long time! I need help on the rams which 4 gb would be sufficeint but i dont know much about timing and stuff! Thks for checking this out i would greatly appreciate any help THks!!

Cheers,
Gordon!

If you're on a budget, just use the integrated sound on the motherboard you decide to use. You do not NEED this at the moment, and could easily be saved up for in the future. Also, you do realize that hard drive prices have skyrocketed, right? For example, a 1tb Samsung drive would easily use a good chunk of your budget.

You'll have to search the forums for the best hard drive deals, or check local stores (BestBuy, etc...) for really good deals at the current moment. Or, just use the money you would save from not purchasing the sound card and put that toward the ridiculous price of a mechanical hard drive.

I'd provide further insight but I'm about to be late for class. This is just my $.02 thumb.gif

You'll probably want to go AMD to meet that budget.

Wss just wondering what is the difference between those two intel sets they look practically the same just that the ram is different and the mobo. If i were to get one which one would i get to be able to make use of the old sata drive and that pcolour5670?

definately go amd with that budget. but you can do an intel build for right under 500 IF you have a microcenter close. look at my budget gaming thread a bit down in this forum. that total comes out to 480, it gets a mobo a intel 2500k a saphire 6850 and 8 gigs of ram.

edit: you dont want a sound card, its wasted m,oney in a very tioght budget. do you have to buy windows? what about a psu? case? you should think of upgrading internals first. then getting a better case later on if you want to play the big games on high settings.

Intel i3 2100 with H61 motherboard. Plus an used HD5670 or GTS 450. No sound card (stick with onboard for now) is doable within $500 (plus it'll be much better than any of those builds up there).

I have spare H61 motherboard and Windows 7 OEM lying around. If you are interested shoot me a PM.
