Crysis, Crysis Warhead, Crysis 2 24HZ Issue

Thread Starter
This is a really common issue to people who use HDTVS. I've tried all of the common fixes to no avail. I've gotten it to lock in fullscreen at 60HZ by alt entering a couple of times but this disables Crossfire in the process. Alt enter, takes you to full screen 24hz, alt enter again takes you to 60hz windowed, alt enter full screen 24 hz crossfire (not true 24hz, is the lag of death), alt enter again 60hz full screen, crossfire disables.

I've tried enabling scaling, setting custom resolutions, nothing works.

I fought with this before and the alt entering did the trick and didn't disable crossfire.

I've edited registry settings as some have suggested. Set them back when it did not work.

So frustrated frown.gif. At first I was pissed at AMD but really my anger should be directed at WIndows 7 as this is an issue with the OS and HDTVS.

AV is outputted the cards via HDMI to Marantz AV7005 Preamplifier where it then is fed to my subwoofers and speaker amplifiers. From the preamp, there is a single HDMI that goes to my TV... it sends outputs from all of my sources to the display.

Any ideas?

You should try a direct dvi to hdmi adapter, cable or dongle, shouldnt matter, and see whats up. Mebbe its the pre-amp? I use a Samsung 2333HD, BUT, I also use dvi - dvi as its both a HDTV, built-in tuner, and a monitor, with the DVI input. Mebbe I'll try my dvi - hdmi cable on one of the inputs, and play Crysis...

Wouldn't I lose the functionality of the audio that is done via HDMI? if I hook up HDMI/DVDI connector to the DVDI connector?
I was suggesting that just to troubleshoot the refresh problem.

I'm sure that would resolve the issue as I've read that's a workaround. The sound wouldn't come across that DVI port though right?

I know this can be done with the cable I have now I just need to find the right tweaks in CCC to make it work again. Can't live without hi-fi sound for gaming.

I just wanted to post a reply here with the solution for anyone else experiencing issues.

In Catalyst Control Center, add a custom resolution, (Uncheck maintain aspect ratio if you don't want the next resolution increment to big enough to leave a huge black border around your monitor. I set mine for 1076x1920 vs. 1080x1920). This was my hangup with the custom resolution fix.

Now, go into Crysis, select custom resolution 1076x1920 or whatever you set yours too. Close reopen, bam issue permanently resolved. Now I just open crysis and it works with crossfire support at the custom resolution. No alt-entering etc.. Scales beautifully now am cooking along at 60FPS solid the way I ought to be. Vsynch works with no problems as well.
This strategy will work on Crysis, Crysis 2, and Crysis Wars... and a few other games that I do not play... if they behave like Crysis does regarding the 24hz bug, you can bet this will probably solve it so long as the custom resolution shows up in the game's display settings. Hope this saves some people some headaches.

That workaround is available from day-one the DX11 patch out.
