New Build Random Restart Issues

Thread Starter
I just built the following new system:

New Components:

Asus Sabertooth X58 Motherboard (BIOS up to date)
Corsair GS700 PSU
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 12GB (3 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10666) Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9T-12GBRL
Intel i7 960 CPU

Carryover (from old system):
MSI GTX460 1 GB
Windows 7 Ultimate 64-Bit

I just built my new system the other night 11/16. I put everything in hooked it all up and it ran just fine on 11/16...I played Modern Warfare 3 for hours with no issues.

Last night 11/17 I started the PC up when I got home from work and was just playing some Magic Online and all of a sudden the PC just rebooted.

I worked for hours last night to try and get it working again. A few times I was able to get back into Windows for a few seconds before the PC restarted on me again, but generally I would not get that far.

I hooked up my old system and was able to get into Windows fine and did not experience any issues. Since I was able to use the new PSU with the old system I know that is probably not the issue. So it is down to the RAM, Motherboard or CPU (I don't think it is the CPU because I never saw any heat issues).

I've tried running Memtest but the PC will restart right away when Memtest starts running. Also I've tried do a Windows repair etc and it will restart in the middle of that also.

I did notice in the BIOS that the RAM timings were not set correctly so I manually set those and still got the random restarts. I also tried using different combinations of RAM sticks to no avail. The only thing that I did not set manually for the RAM was the voltage. I will try that when I get home from work.

Oh...I forgot to mention that I do get the BSOD sometimes as well.

Any other suggestions on what I should be looking at?

Try different RAM that you know to be working. Also, try a different Power Supply from a different computer that you know is working correctly.

try using your OLD psu with your NEW system and not vice versa, worth a shot, definitely sounds like PSU, im probably wrong but your old system probably doesn't stress the PSU as much.. either way worth a shot
