Quote:
PC gaming peripheral maker SteelSeries and Simraceway creators Ignite Entertainment today announced the Simraceway SRW-S1 Steering Wheel, a new handheld PC gamepad-steering wheel hybrid aimed squarely at PC racing game fans.

The SRW-S1 is designed to offer the best aspects of a steering wheel controller and foot pedals with the portability and more desk-space friendly size of a gamepad. Steering control is handled by the SRW-S1's built-in motion-sensor, with rear-mounted, full-range paddles to control throttle and braking.

Sponsored by Fisher-Price.

It's a novel idea, but I can't imagine racing without my feet on physical pedals.

Looks pretty sweet. Dont know if the FW31 in Iracing or F12011 will sell enough of these.

Huh. It looks very accurate for being motion sensed, I just don't think your going to get the precision that a stationary wheel will offer as far as oversteer/understeer, feedback ect.. Input lag looks o.k. but a little high. If it was 50 bucks I'd buy it but you can get a $100 wheel that has it's own foot pedals. Cool idea though for the average racing game.

This is sooooo awesome!! Where do I get one? wink.gif

It looks kinda like an actual F1 racing wheel, what w/ all the buttons and electronics built-into the wheel. The only hard thing would be adjusting to the lack of it being bolted down. I think the lack of foot pedals wouldn't be too sorely missed, since you are replacing those w/ something similar to paddle shifters. But then again, since you are now losing paddle shifters, what will you be shifting with?

lolwut.

I think its better to spend a bit extra for the G27. At least with that, you get a better experience.
However, i think the steelseries wheel does look nice.

No force feedback I'm afraid biggrin.gif

Have to see reviews first. Great idea though for people like me that only needs the smoothness of a wheel without the pedals.
I have about four unplayed racing games because I haven't bought a wheel yet.

I was doing a little research and it seems 50/50 in reviews biggest issue seems to be pain from holding it a long time.

But for those having to use a desk unsuitable and a room unsuitable for a hard core set up this is a huge giant leap from keyboard racing and I am getting one biggrin.gif

Do....not want.

1. It is ugly (note shape-wise, but rather the colors and style/design)
2. No Force Feedback
3. No pedals :O
4. Need to recharge (maybe it dies in the middle of a race -_-?)
5. Awkward to hit buttons

Explanation of 5: Some buttons appear to be to far away from thumbs, meaning one hand must let go of the whee....which a bad idea because it has no mount. If I let go of one side, that side may drop, resulting in me crashing into a wall at a very high speed.

I am sure this has its uses, but I still think it is very lackluster. It really just makes me think of a Wii-mote with a steering wheel attachment.
