Hi all!

It's been a while since I upgraded. I currently have an ATI HD5850 (bought last Jan 2010, running @ 875/1200) gaming at 1680x1050 resolution. I do not have plans on upgrading my 3 year old monitor tongue.gif Anyway, I need advise on what to get (budget is between $200-260):

1. Nvidia GTX 470;
2. ATI HD6950;
3. Nvidia GTX 480; OR
4. Nvidia GTX 570

I don't mind buying 2nd hand video cards. Also, during my time the GTX 4XX series were problematic due to their high heat output and voltage consumption. But now they're so affordable I'm tempted to get one. Can you guys recommend which is the best considering my current system? I want to be able to play on high settings, if not ultra smile.gif Thanks! I also want to try Nvidia since I've been on the ATI side from the beginning.

Thanks!

You should consider a 560 ti. I went with the Asus version (not top) and have been extremely happy with the performance, heat, noise, and voltages, as well as overclocking headroom. I'm running mine at 950mhz well over the 822 stock.

Also since you are considering a 470, the 560 ti outperforms it and at less heat output and power consumption. The only real benefit I see is price. But your budget covers pretty much all the 560 ti models.

You may even want to wwait for the new 448 core 560 ti that is supposedly coming out at the end of this month. Which I'm assuming will perform very close to a 570.

the 570 is more than 260 bucks, but if you can get a second hand one within your budget then go with that. otherwise, i vote 6950 2GB.. then again theres a new 560ti coming out, and like ^he said, you should check that out first. smile.gif
