You could boot up a Live CD and run Disk Utility. Hit the SMART button to run a full test of the hard drive. This will also provide information the manufacturer may want in the warranty/RMA process.

Check this out: I booted my original disk and had three install options. Erase and reinstall, update, and manage partitions. Why do I have 4 partitions?

I just deleted the fat32 partition after realizing it had something to do with windows lol, felt confident about that move at least

OK, well I don't know what you're doing at this point; you ignored my advice and went off doing your own thing. That's fine for you, but it's not very good if you're actually trying to get some assistance with whatever it is you're doing.
