For a school project, I've chosen to do cooling power of stock cooling vs. Aftermarket cooling. Which would you pick, stock Intel cooling or a Corsair A70? The Corsair A70 costed me $22.

The answer is obvious, but I need documentation that I asked the community. Also include your experiences if you have had the A70 (temps, proc you were using and clock, thermal paste). Thanks in advanced:D

I feel the a70 is a very under rated and forgotten cpu cooler. I have had mine for over a year now and see now reason to replace it. I'll post my temps when I get home from work.

The A70 of course! 1. It has more surface area leading to higher heat dissipation. 2. It uses larger fans which can run at a quieter setting while pushing larger amounts of air through the high fin area dissipating heat. 3. The configuration of fans (pushing air out of the case, across memory and major components) vs. stock fan which pushes hot air down on major components.

Typically the A70 is about 13 - 15c lower in temperature than the stock heat-sink depending on the processor and settings. Of course a stock coolers is at about the limits of the thermal envelope that it can handle and with higher voltage heat raises exponentially.

I have one too, and I'm really happy with it.
Overclocked at 4+Ghz (AMD 955), my load temps were 45C in the summer. Can't complain there...
