p4 3Ghz OEM HP PC, what to do with it.....

Thread Starter
Here in town the school department sold off all of the desktop computers from the elementary school, to make room for updated hardware.
I picked up one of these desktops for $25...

It has a p4 clocked at 3Ghz on a 478 Lite-on Mobo.
1g ddr ram
40g ide HDD
ide cd-rom

The tower came complete w/ keyboard & mouse, as well as a 15" crt hp 7500 monitor...

So, my question is... anyone know if I can put Windows Home Server on it? add a pci -> sata card to add some sata drives for storage space?

Not feasibly possible for me to box up the crt to ship out and wouldn't be worth the cost anyway I belive,.
Short of a modded bios, there isn't much that can be done with the mobo so I don't realy know what to do with it, except put it into storage for a "just in case" desktop...

Any suggestions?

I have a ton of these old systems laying around with some intel 865perl boards. I ran Windows Home Server on mine without an issue. Only complaints are that they run hot, and easily heat up a room without circulation. Solid stuff though, although I don't know if your board will play nice with WHS. Give it a shot with a spare hard drive, doesn't hurt to try. thumb.gif
