Im using an APC surge protector and there is no other wall outlet i can use and I got no choice. So before getting powerline, can anyone confirm if it works with surge protectors? I mean why not?

this is the surge protector: http://www.apc.com/products/resource/include/techspec_index.cfm?base_sku=P5B%2DGR

No, read the instructions that came with your powerline adapter. They are not meant to work being plugged into anything other then the wall.

Can I plut my Powerline adapter into a power strip, surge protector, uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) or extension cord?

NETGEAR does not recommend using power strips, surge protectors, UPS and extension cords with Powerline products. These devices filter out some or all of the high frequency signals used in Powerline communications. Connecting a Powerline to one of these devices can greatly reduce the data rate of transfers, or block communications entirely.

That still means there is a chance for it to work.

If you really want to not heed their advice, why are you even asking for our opinions?

Because I want to know if someone tried it or not, plus your opinions are completely different from something written in a guide or manual. That netgear quote is from a guide btw, all other companies have similar advise. Also some surge protectors are Powerline compliant, yet those guides dont address that.

I'll try plugging mine into my UPS...brb

Didn't work...
I have a WD Livewire kit. When I plugged it into the UPS the PLC link light went out

EDIT: When I plugged it into one of the "surge protect only" outlets it worked fine.

I have two sets of netgear powerline adapters. One set is the dual port and one set is the quad port. I am telling you from experience it doesn't work out to well. They are finky at best.
