450

can you get any info from the package? dont worry about the two ram sticks that are allready in there. those are the ram sticks i used before the srvice upgraded them for free tongue.gif
but now that you say it, it could be possible it is acctually 1333mhz

What you have there is 1600mhz ram, not bad at all. Were you able to verify that crossfire is enabled in the AMD Vision Engine Control Center?

If you are open to suggestion, maybe we can figure it out for you:

1. How the 5970 getting the power from the PSU? Using 4-pin to 8-pin adapters?

2. Link of your PSU.

3. Reset CMOS and go to BIOS to load Optimized Defaults to rule out the OC stability related issues.

4. Are you using preview drivers? If so, unintall and downlaod the latest WHQL Catalyst 11.11 + CAP2. Here: http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/radeon_win7-64.aspx

5. Are you using "registered" OS and updated to last available updates?

6. Did you customize the OS or desktop?

7. How did you disable ULPS? This is the correct way of turning it off:

- Go to regedit (start > search programs and files > "regedit").
- In drop down menu: find file > type "enableulps".
- For ALL instances (keep pressing F3) change the "1" value to a "0".
- Reboot PC.

8. Did you have other cards prior to 5970 with your current OS?

9. What motherboard you are using? Please fill in your system specs under "My Profile". It will be easier to help you if we know what you are working with.

10. Please take a screen shot using GPU-Z showing both the master GPU and slave GPU of the 5970 if they are running at PCIe x16, x8 or x4 .

11. Go to Device Manager and under Display Adapters, do you see any yellow warning signs?

12. Are you running "registered" copy of all the games?

13. Are you running all the tests and games in FULL SCREEN MODE? Crossfire doesn't work in Windowed Mode.

14. Download and install the latest version MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 8 to get the correct readings.

1 i got the 8 pin connected directly to the psu and the 6 pin one is connected with 4 pin connectors wich are then connected to the psu 450

2. i guess you want to know wich psu it is? its a chieftech APS-1000c and it is a 1000watt psu

3. i dont know what you are talking about (Im a computer noob tongue.gif ) soo if im going to do all that i need a FULL in detail step by step tutorial tongue.gif

4. im not using preview drivers only the newest official ones tongue.gif

5.i dont know wat you mean by registered ( i guess u mean legall? if soo then yes) i would be updated to the latest updates

6. i did not customize anything unless you mean by disabling ULPS tho or changing your background tongue.gif

7. ya i disabled ULPS that way only twist tho is that i went to regedit and found it manually ( opened HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > System > Controlset001 > Control > Class > 4d36e968 and it ends with 08002be10318 > 0000 and 0001

8. this is my forst comp and i did never had any cards prior to this one

9. i have no idea ATM cuz i lost the list with all the specs, il tell ya as soon as i find it ;

10.i will do this later

11. no have no warning signs, it only says it works as it should

12. legall? yes

13. i do run all test on fullscreen. some games runs better in windowed mode tho :/

14. i downloaded afterburner the day i got the readings soo i think im good ^^

Yes. There should be an option in there to turn crossfire on/off. Make sure it is on.

Your potential culprit:

1. Power connection/adapter from PSU to 5970. I am in disbelief Chieftech APS-1000c a 1000watt PSU has no native 8-Pin PCIe cable and must use 4-pin molex adapter eek.gif

2. The ULPS regitry edit was not done correctly/completely.

You have to edit all instances from "1' value to "0".

Why is it so difficult to download and install latest MSI Afterburner 2.2.0 Beta 8 to get the correct readings including which one is master and slave GPU?

amd 5970 2gb @ 750 / 1000
i7 950 @ 3.07ghz cpu
12gb ram @ 1200mhz
abd a 1.5 tb hdd @ 7500rpm
even tho i have a fairly good system i still have problems with fps with many games. you will probably say right away: "try different drivers" but the thing is that i have tried this with or without driversweeper for more than a half a year -_- so i think that would not work. i have been sending it to service several times but they say its fine even though i have bad fps even though i see people on youtube that have a worse setup than me and get better fps -_-
the games that have this problem:
borderlands
Battlefield 3
mass effect 2
and sometimes in portal 2 O_o
killing floor (only when there are many enemies on screen)
crysis 1 and crysis warhead
(all these games has been tested at full settings)
it could of cource be a driver issue because when i got the comp back from service last time killing floor ran very well, but after some updates it went to **** again.
i am getting really frustrated and im thinking to just replace the card with gtx 580 or something
plz help smile.gif
(sorry for my grammar frown.gif )

Borderlands struggles with AMD/ATI cards. Like with Far Cry 2 where a GTX 285 beats the 5870. rolleyes.gif
Killing Floor prefers Nvidia GPUs as far as I have seen and doesn't support SLI due to the aged engine. Anything can run it maxed out.
Crysis and Warhead are horribly optimized so they use like 60% of one GPU with Vsync off.

That's three games right there. Battlefield 3 is brand new and both sides are having a few teething problems so that's nothing new.

However, your PSU is pathetic. I suggest getting something that actually has a true 8-pin connector like an HX850 or something similar. biggrin.gif
