$2000 first build (Deadline > Black Friday)

First, I'm new so please don't flame me if I do something wrong like post in the wrong section.

I have a budget of $2000 for everything in a rig (rig + acc). I currently only have a Filco mechanical and nothing else (okay, maybe two NEC 1970VX's but they're just not cutting it).

Things I will do with this rig

  • Work with music (tranposing music which I have covered in another thread)
  • Internet
  • Anime (ripping and watching)
  • Dirt 3 (light amounts)
  • Photoshop/photowork (maybe down the road. I could just use Photoshop.com to edit stuff)
  • A lot of file compression/decompression (7-Zip)

I was going to go for an i5 build but the following is expensive.

Arc Midi
2500K
P8Z68-V Pro
Blackline 996991
Sapphire Radeon HD6950 Dirt 3 Edition (unclocks to 6970)
Chronos Deluxe 60GB
Deskstar 7K1000.D (maybe more than one)
Lite-on iHBS212
NH-D14
Some Sanyo Denki fans
fan controller (don't know yet)
Seasonic X560
Deathadder Black Edition
HP ZR2240w

About $2000 and I haven't added a Ikea Galant and a chair to the cost. Can anybody help me?

Edit: my mother promised me to pay half of it so the budget is now TBD.

No, not yet. I'm thinking about getting a 2500K so far since Bulldozer got bulldozed and Ivy Bridge is next year once Black Friday has passed and I want to save money so I have less than a week to get all of this together. Anyways, probably the only progress I have is how the fans are going to be positioned in the case (thanks to ehume's threads). Other than that, nothing.

Newegg is the first store on my list I'm going to buy the components from although I've heard some horror stories with them and/or UPS for shipping. I've even heard of sending used things passed off as new.

You can build a rig exactly like mine for right around $2,000.

Maybe less now!

Meh, an i7 is overkill unnecessary. I could get an i5 for less. It's more than enough.

I wasnt saying that you should get an i7, I was just saying that you can build a killer rig for that price or leas nowadays.
Just trying to give you a head start. Wasn't telling you to make the exact same thing!

Ah, I see now. Yeah, I just wish Bulldozer at least delivered since it made the price of SB rise IIRC.

Edit: 2500K creams 8150 in most things right?

Honestly, $2000 is overkill. If you want to spend $2000, then an i7 will get you the best performance for your money...otherwise, you'll need to spend money on random crap to get your cost up. Now, I know that this is Overclock.net and nothing is in excess.....but don't you think that $2k is excess for a computer you won't really be doing much with? You could build a rig for under $500 (less with Black Friday sales) and do everything you just mentioned impeccably well.

If you're really intent on spending $2000.00USD, then get either:
this plus this.

OR

this:
