Or just get the dell IPS where contrast doesn't matter and the colours will be better anyway. TN panels are garbage compared to a good IPS, te modern dell ips panels dont ghost or have input lag. What's on the packaging means basically nothing in most cases.

Yeah. I'm looking at TFTCentral for guidance on the monitor so that can be left alone.

Edit: Should I get a Gen/3 board or not? It's unlikely I'm going to upgrade but would it push up the board's value down the road?

you dont have to get a i7. ya its a good processer but i know alot of better ways to spend 700-1000 dollers.

I'd normally never recommend that, but with HDD prices how they are......

The reason i aded the cpu cooler is because the 3930 chips dont come with a stock cooler. I was just adding on to the system that that other dude had made up. If you dont think it needs a cooler then the cpu would fry in 1 second.

It might, although I'm not entirely sure. Whats your current build looking like atm?

You're absolutely right, I completely forgot!!! I can't believe I forgot about he SB-E not having CPU coolers. Good call!

Regardless, I'm not a fan of the LGA2011 thangs. I'd much prefer to get a 2500k/2600k.....but I don't see why he wants to spend $2000 on a desktop for websurfing and typing up word documents.

Np mate, I dont think he wants a SB-e. I dont really know what he wants thats why i asked what his current build plan is so i can help a bit more. I like SB-e, just cant affort it haha. For OP though a i5 2500k will probably be plenty. As a general PC the things you will notice most is.

How hot it makes the room, quietness, memory and SSD. However if its a gaming computer things you will notice most is performance. Noise and heat output become second rather then first. If i was building a $2000 pc not for gaming id have, SB-E, 32 gigs ram, watercool the cpu, noctua fans and then a 6750 fanless design with 3 monitors. But thats just me and for what i do.

Gaming I would have i5, 8 gig ram and crossfire 6950's with a good overclocking motherboard.
