Eyefinity supporst 2 legacy device, the combination of DVI, HDMI or VGA. The third monitor must have native DisplayPort.
If your monitors don't have native DisplayPort, then you need one of these for Eyefinity:
Accell B087B-005B UltraAV DisplayPort to DVI-D Single-Link Active Adapter ATI Certified
If the monitor resolution is higher than 1920x1200 - 2560x1600, you will need DP-to-DVI-Dual-Link Active Adapter:
Accell UltraAV B087B-002B DisplayPort/DVI-D Dual-Link Adapter
The Efefinity must meet this minimum requirement.
268

What exactly do you mean by reference design?

Mine has 2 DVI, 1 HDMI, and 1 DisplayPort

So I will have 2 monitors connected via DVI, so that should satisfy the 2 legacy, and the third will use the DisplayPort with the active adapter so I can use DVI again. That monitor resolution requirement is for the monitor using the DisplayPort, correct?

Yes, you are correct. A reference-design is ATI standard original design 5770 has 2 DVIs, 1 HDMI and 1 DP.

Correct. If your monitor resolution is not beyond 1920x1200, a DP-to-DVI Single Link Active adapter.

Get the adapter I link in my post as it's validated by AMD. Some other adapters might work but hit or miss.

Your monitor setup:

Monitor #1, DVI > DVI
Monitor #2, DVI > DVI
Monitor #3, DVI > DVI-DP Single Link Active Adapter.

If resolution is above 1920x1200, use DVI-DP Dual-Link Active Adapter.

Alright, perfect, sounds like I will be good to go. Thank you. Sounds like I could even run my current main monitor using a single link...but just to be safe I'll keep a 1920x1080 on the adapter.

Thanks a bunch smile.gif

You could try to game on Eyefinity to try it out. If it doesn't allow you to play with a single 5770, just play on the primary single monitor thumb.gif

Yes, you can use a DisplayPort-to-VGA Active Adapter if you don't have DVI for the third monitor.

This is the list of adapters certified by AMD that will guarantee to work for Eyefinity AMD Eyefinity Validated Dongles

If you run Eyefinity, this will make the 3 monitors span as one large display. 3 displays is the most available on a 5770.

However you can also not create an Eyefinity group and just use each display independently. If you run 5770 Crossfire, you can only output to 3 displays (only outputs of 1 card work). If you run the two 5770 as separate cards not in Crossfire mode, you can output to 6 displays.

interesting. I kind of neglect VGA as I love digital over analog, but that is definitely good to know. Thanks.

Hmm, maybe I should just snag another 5770 then, lol.
