Overclock Help!!

Thread Starter
Hello, i am trying to overclock my phenom II x4 955 BE processor up to 3.6 with a multiplier of 18
I am completely new to overclocking, and wondering if i will need to increase cpu voltage along with the multiplier?
Right now the cpu runs at about high 30's while gaming on stock speeds, so also wondering if i have enough room to overclock the cpu
Any help would be appreciated, thanks!

up the multi run ibt (intel burn test) for around 20 passes and watch the temp. If it passes run prime95 overnight at least 12 hours and if it does not error out and temps stay below 62c you are good. I would think you could get 3.8-4.0ghz without much problems and 3.6 should most likely be doable at stock volts. What cpu cooler are you running? If stock I would not try to get past 3.6

Yes you will need to bump the voltage up. 30's is quite low temperature wise. That chip is rated at a max temperature of 62C, although you should try to keep around 55C and lower.

Make sure you stress test to make sure things are stable and you'll be fine.

1.55v is the max safe voltage.

That should be more than enough voltage for 3.6GHz.

Well i ran prime 95 through the night, and although it made it through ok with no problems, the max temp was 61 degrees
Should i try lowering the voltage, or is it a different problem thats causing the high temps?
