Ok, so I got my BF3 key, but didn't really feel like downloading the full 11gb so I borrowed my friends disc instead. Unfortunately, he forgot to take Disc 2 out after installing. No prob I thought, Origin will finish it for me! Nope. It still asked for Disc 2.
I then remembered the pause feature, and how it looks for install files that were already there. Here is how to exploit that feature and get it working:
1. Install off disc 1 up to where it asks for disc 2.
2. open up your install directory and make a copy of the bf3 folder.
3. cancel the install so it deletes the old stuff.
4. rename your backup to "Battlefield 3"
5. put your backed up bf3 folder back in your origin games directory.
6. take out disc 1 and begin the download.
7. Origin should download the rest of BF3 for you!

DONE!!!!
