I do want to get the most life out of my system as possible.
Thanks for the help guys...

Both of these are better to prove stability IMO. IBT will stress your CPU differently, and harder. The temperatures will be higher than prime95, but the thing is you can generally run this for ~20 minutes and if it can pass 10 - 20 runs of IBT it is considered stable. LinuX is very similar to IBT, as IBT is a version of LinuX.

I hear Liquid Helium works well. /sarcasm

Seriously, if you want to push past the 5 GHZ boundaries, you're going to need better cooling.

You should stay at 4.8 - 4.9 and be happy with it for 24/7 use.

The cooling is not the problem here. The temps stay below 55C. Are you saying that 55C is too high to go above 5Ghz. I never heard of anyone having this problem. Ive had the thing running at 63C before when outside temp was hot. It ran fine then so I would think that 5Ghz should run fine at 55C.

Anyone disagree?

I been talking to someone else about this and they were able to get to 5.0Ghz by using mostly FSB but I have not had a chance to do that yet. In order to do this, they had to stick their radiator in a bucket of ice and it still got too hot. With my cooling system, it doesn't get that hot. If I can get it stable, it will not go over 60C on Prime.

I will check these other stability tests out and see how it does.

Perhaps you should try different FSB x Multiplier combinations instead of doing whatever you have been doing without 5GHz stability. It appears you have just been trying the same thing over & over by the looks of what I have seen in various threads, but just with an increase in voltage & obviously more voltage isn't working.

Mine errors on 1 core if it gets to 62c but that core is sweet if it stays under 58c (socket temp)
So the cooler you keep it the more stable it is.

I did another run last night taking air from outside which was 4C last night,
Managed to get 5.08 stable on prime with 1.48v temps were maxing out 56-57c.
5.2ghz was stable with IBT but that only seems to make heat and not really test anything since it would error with prime straight away.

Also found using a lower HTlink picked me up a few points in bench marks. (previously 3ghz)
2750-2840ish seems to give the best performance.

Im really keen to take the IHS off my chip since im sure that will make a bit of difference (3-4c) and would allow me to try a higher voltage but I better not and just wait till I get better cooling.

Im glad that that cooling setup is working good for you. My outside temps right now are not low. (about 60F) not optimal for overclocking right now. I dont know why its 60F at almost the end of november. If you ask me its bs. Anyway, did you get the idea for the cooling from the video i showed of mine or were you planning on this before? Doesn't it work better than you would think? I was really surprised to see the temp decrease while using this setup. Definitely works very well and Im glad its helping you. Those temps are better than the ones you had with the bucket of ice too. I posted another thread about that VID, actually i think i seen you post in there but my first chip has vid of 1.325v and at 4.9Ghz at 1.525v with outside temps at 35F running prime the CPU doesn't pass 54C. I see that yours at 5Ghz 1.48v with outside temps at 4F is getting up to 56-57C so I guess its true about the VID on the BD chips. A lot of other people are agreeing with this too.

With the new chip that I put in I tried the settings you have and it posted but wouldnt get into windows. My RAM is rated for 1866 but it is Corsair Dominator GT and was set at 2000Mhz and it did post like I said but wouldnt boot windows. I also tried 1666Mhz and still wouldnt post. I think I might be able to do it when I install first good chip. Do you think I should run RAM at 2000? Also, what is your CPU/NB voltage? Could you please list all settings and voltages for your 5GHz clock please? I would like to try them with old chip now that I know that it is best chip out of the three.

Also I seen you menntion IHS. what is that? I dont recognize that.

Also, have you tried the insulation I was talking about in one of the other posts? It will help with like 3-4C maybe even more since your outside temps are that low.

Keep me updated and thanks for the help.

agh, Just posted a long post but website timed out when posting and clicking back lost my post so ill just keep it shorter this time.

Had already bought the ducting before I saw your video, But I had made ducting out of cardboard but it wasnt working so good.
Im guessing it gets about the same results as ice water since the ice water had no flow it was just in a bucket, pumping it though the radiator would make a bigger difference I imagin.

IHS = intergrated heat spreader, Removed lots of them in the past but not on a bulldozer and there might be some differences to P2.

All my temps are in C, F isnt used here in NZ so I air was at 4c, which is about 39f I believe. (its just about summer here now)

I rum my ram at 2000mhz since thats what its rated for, I put more voltage into it tho for tighter timings.

Iv already posted all my specs and voltages somewhere and I dont have the bit of paper infornt of me so this is from memory.

Multi - 20X
FSB - 250
HTLink - 3ghz (have been doing more testing at 2750-2840 seem to be the best)
NB - 2.5ghz (best range seems to be 2460-2540)
Ram - 2ghz

CPU VID - 1.488v (stock 1.28) (no voltage drop but it does raise to 1.491 under load)
CPU NB - 1.3v (stock 1.175)
NB - 1.225v (stock 1.1v)
ht - 1.3v (stock 1.175v)
ram 1.7v (stock 1.65v)

Ram timings: 9,10,9,28,32 (ganged)

Iv got fans on the mosfets and nb heatsinks since nb gets up to 50c and mosfets are getting up to 60c were hitting 80c with no fan max is ment to be 120c (there temps not showen by mobo had to read with heat gun)
