My Quad Core Processor only uses one core? - Page 2

Give us the Acer system's model number.
Check msconfig and see if you set the OS to ignore any cores.
Check CMOS Setup/Bios and look some System information/CPU Info and see if it says 4 cores + 4 threads.

Reinstall windows? What? That's completely unnecessary. Just clear your CMOS, and if that won't work, BIOS update.

Try going into your device manager and uninstalling your CPU and then restarting.

My Model is an : Aspire M3400

And I checked Msconfig, and I'm guessing you mean check under the 'Boot' tab, advanced options, and check the # of processors? If so it says 1 and I can't change it.

And the CMOS setup says nothing about my CPU, and under CPU-Z I posted a picture of it on the first page of this thread , go look at it )

Yes, update your BIOS, there is one from like 3 months ago that was released.

http://support.acer.com/product/default.aspx?modelId=2418

Double check the model aswell, anyways iirc most OEM pcs don't have bios flashing from the BIOS. Download the ulility from Acer and flash the bios.

If you get some sort of error, DO NOT SHUT OFF THE COMPUTER. Flash it until it works, if you shut it down when the BIOS is erased, i doubt there is any kind of bios recovery.
