battlefield 3

Thread Starter
Just got battlefield 3 and let me tell you it is the least newb friendly game on the planet. Matchmaking system is broken/dumb, and when I go to join a server, 9/10 times I'm playing against a clan of level 40's with max equipment; I've tried at least 11 different servers. Spawn killing is off the charts (At least half the times I spawn, one second later I die, even though I am switching spawning locations every time). I tried sniping, but that also doesn't work because everyone on their team has infrared scopes and sniper riles, which kill in 1 shot, have superior accuracy, and have superior range. Vehicles seemed fun and I got a kill until like 8 jets bombed me into the ground a second later. Don't even get me started with helicopters. I am going like 1/12 every game; this is just ridiculous and definitely not fun. I have no equipment, and I am stuck on level 1. ALso, freaking lag/stuttering almost always happens right as I try to shot an enemy(I am updated to the latest drivers). It makes aiming stupidly impossible. Finally, I've been stabbed in the back like fifteen times and I barely ever see enemies unless its in kill cam thing.
< /rant>
How am I supposed to play this game? Are there any noob servers where I can play against people who havent been playing the game straight, since it first came out?

There are plenty of servers labeled as "NOOBS ONLY" every time I look. Also, if you're having issues with spawn camping, make sure the server isn't "NO RULES" or something similar. If its later in the game, spawn camping becomes a problem, but if its a brand new game you won't have an issue. Try Caspian Border, its a little too big of a map to easily spawn camp.

Its really not that people have been playing it since its come out, its more that they've been playing games for years. A more noob friendly game would've been Call of Duty.

I don't really know what to tell you except keep trying.

Same thing happened with me when I first played BFBC2. Just keep playing and you'll get to level 40 and have max equipment. tongue.gif

I have no problems at all.. you just need to adapt. I feel the rubber banding tho.. while in a jet / chopper. There are a few servers with plugin that kicks people who are higher than level 20, but make sure that plugin is running because it's mostly good players joining NOOB servers to get easy kills.

I think one of the most important things you need to learn is the maps and where enemies usually come from such as usual hideouts.
Also I would try to stick with Assault to learn the name since you can get a lot of points just by healing and reviving allies. Yesterday
I saw I guy with 1 kill and like 20 deaths, but he had like 20k points (like 10k more than everybody else in both teams). However, that
was in the train map where everybody just spams rpgs, 40mm or granades so there is lots of deaths and healing to do lol...
After you are high enough you unlock guns that everybody can use and might be better than the starting guns.

Even though I feel like I was a good player in BFC2 I kind of suck in BF3 and it's mainly because I'm low lvl and I do not know the
maps. I get lost often and sometimes I have no idea where enemies come from and kill me. But I was in the same spot in BFC2
and once I learned the maps I would top the board most of the times... not just by k/d, but helping the team out.

A good way to level up and unlock some of the equipment is to hop in a chopper with a decent pilot and take the gunner position. Fly around and get some kills and it should unlock things pretty quick for you. I know it is a kind of cheesy tactic but hey.....this is war! LOL

Good luck!

I'm having the same problem and I don't really consider myself a noob or particularly bad. Almost every server I join is extremely stacked and clans are just dominating. I get kind of upset at them but I know it's not really their fault. I wish there was a kind of Mercenary matchmaking like in call of duty with no parties so ATB actually does something.

Just be sure to join a squad and stick with them. I'm not exactly the best player on foot (I prefer tanks), but when I'm on the ground the squad should help you survive, like reviving you if someone takes you out. When you are on foot in BF3 it is all about teamwork. This game can be BRUTAL if you're venturing out on your own.
