Overclocking a Phenom II 955

post #1 of 151
Thread Starter
So I have a 955 Phenom II and I would love to get it to 4Ghz but when I did while playing BF3 some funky stuff happened thew sound glitched out with the screeching and i froze up so I restarted. But I dont know a thing about voltages and stuff. What do i need to do to get at 4ghz stable?

Im at 3.8 right now.

I run 4.0Ghz at 1.37-14.3vCore with 2.6NB at 1.25v.

I used 200x20.

C2 typically maxes out at 3.8, but C3 should be stable on 1.45 @ 1.40v-1.45v

it's supposedly a C3 chip

@pj
you're going to need to post all of your information (like Spec did) if youre going to expect any help from people.

If you just raised the CPU multipliers and left the voltage at stock you won't have a stable system because your CPU is unstable. Either raise the voltage (do so VERY CAUTIOUSLY if you're new) or lower the multiplier to a stable lever where you don't need to raise the voltage, which would only be a small increase. Always use Prime 95 after you mess with your miltiplier/voltage settings to ensure youre stable.

C0 ~ 3.1GHz can't pass over it, C1 ~ 3.5GHz, C2 3.8~3.9GHz, C3 4~4.5GHz (maxes). Cos C3 is the last revision (everything is fixed up, uses low voltages, low temperature, high overclock). Check for your revision and report back to us.

Overclocking with multiplier is easy but doesn't gives same performance as FSB overclocking. Now you need to start overclocking with FSB with your 19x multi. Try 19x211 = 4009MHz ^^
