For some reason lately. My computer restart out of now where. It would give me a warning that it had an unexpected crash and needs to restart. I looked at the dumbs and it shows that its my graphics card.
Code:
On Sun 11/20/2011 10:16:39 PM GMT your computer crashed
crash dump file: C:\Windows\Minidump\112011-19047-01.dmp
This was probably caused by the following module: nvlddmkm.sys (nvlddmkm+0x7FEFA4)
Bugcheck code: 0x116 (0xFFFFFA8007DAC2B0, 0xFFFFF8801065FFA4, 0xFFFFFFFFC000009A, 0x4)
Error: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR
file path: C:\Windows\system32\drivers\nvlddmkm.sys
product: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 280.26
company: NVIDIA Corporation
description: NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 280.26
Bug check description: This indicates that an attempt to reset the display driver and recover from a timeout failed.
A third party driver was identified as the probable root cause of this system error. It is suggested you look for an update for the following driver: nvlddmkm.sys (NVIDIA Windows Kernel Mode Driver, Version 280.26 , NVIDIA Corporation).
Google query: nvlddmkm.sys NVIDIA Corporation VIDEO_TDR_ERROR

I have downgraded my drivers, still doesnt fix the issue. I reset MSI After Burner to default on the GPUs, still nothing.

I can only think that one or both my cards are dying.

I really doubt both of your cards are dieng , i would look more into it before i assume that .

Im no expert with nvidia , someone here will assist your further .

If the cards were dieng , you would see atrifacts and crazy colours and all sorts of things ..

Have you completely removed drivers with driver sweeper ? and then installed the latest official drivers ?

I havent done that but when I install the new ones. I just do a fresh install. Also when it starts, I see 3 thin white boxes in the upper left corner and also when I log in

No offense, but wouldn't it be logical for you to try ONE single card first and then try the other one. Or try new drivers ?
There's no way of knowing whats up without you checking the physical problem.

You could also Do the easiest trick and do a System Restore to a point where it was working correctly. Possibly a few days ago or whatever...thumb.gifthumb.gif

If a card is dying, it doesn't necessarily have to have artifacts. There are many components to a videocard that can go bad.

Do this first ( its pretty simple) and then report back...

1.)--- Get Driver Sweeper here
http://www.techspot.com/downloadget.php?id=4266&file=1&evp=32db47643586947b685d0fcff107c17f
- Install Driver Sweeper (Guru3d.com doesn't support it any longer so download isn't there)
- First Uninstall the Drivers Through Control panel
- Start Driver sweeper > Press Analyse and then select > NVIDIA display (only display) then click CLEAN
- Restart in Safe Mode (F8 at startup)
- Run Driver Sweeper and do the same as above one more time
- Now Install Latest NVIDIA DRIVERS 285.62-
2.)-- Physically Uninstall the Second Video Card and start up with the Single Card and new clean drivers
-- Switch the Videocard with the second one and see how that goes.

It's prob best to try playing a game or something on each card to see if the error comes up again.

What driver set are you using? You're getting TDRs and there is a known bug with all drivers from 280.X onward that causes TDRs on some Fermi cards (especially GF104/114 based cards).

Nvidia released an "official" statement and troubleshooting guide here: http://forums.nvidia.com/index.php?s=4bd12b125648c49800ba4cb1f2d36d2a&showtopic=215256

You may also want to post there and let them know your hardware setup since they're apparently having problems pinpointing the exact cause.

Most likely though, your cards are fine thumb.gif

When you install the drivers click custom and there is an option for clean install no need for drive sweeper

Can you get your hands on a Graphics card temporarily ? If so , this would be an easy way to pinpoint weather or not one of your cards is causing the problem.

in their own post they suggest to update to latest drivers, were those the ones having problems ? ... unless i understood you wrong, the driver they recommend is above 280.x ? being 285.62....

5) After restart, if you have any remaining display drivers stored in your Windows directory, Windows may start to install a different graphics driver. If so, allow it to install the driver and then restart again when prompted.

6) Repeat steps 1 through 5 until the NVIDIA Graphics Driver version is 275.XX or earlier OR until there is no NVIDIA Graphics Driver reported under Programs.

7) Download GeForce 285.62 WHQL driver from:

http://www.geforce.com/Drivers

Although NVIDIA is great, they still have to watch their a$ concerning marketing. If there is a major problem with some Fermi cards, they will acknowledge flaws and try to fix it but deny some issues due to cost on their part. I've seen many videocards with major problems there would never be acknowledged byt he company or Nvidia themselves. This is also where an RMA or Warranty would come into place
