The only thing worse than a hard drive crash....

...is when you do a diskpart/clean on a 16TB array without a backup and it's going to take about 4 days for R-Studio to scan everything because of the massive size, and you have no idea if it's all going to come back or not.

Like I just did.

Everything I've ever done on a computer in the last 15 years was on there: downloaded media, programs I worked on, ISOs and serial numbers of everything, notes and work from college (tablet PC), lots of reference books, legal documents, and so on.

Obviously I've got a backup of the life-or-death files, but that's just a few documents - a very, very small percentage of what was on there.

Actually no, it's in RAID6 so I could have shot 2 drives with a gun without flinching tongue.gif
