New i7 Build! Need Suggestions!

Alright this is goin be my first build I'm doing by myself, so I'm trying to get everything right. This is goin be used strictly for gaming along with school work. So far what I've got priced is:

CPU - Intel i7-2600k ( Goin OC it along with water cool )
GPU - GTX 590 or even x2 GTX 580 ( Also goin water cool )
Mobo - ASRock Extreme4 or maybe Maximus IV Extreme
Memory - Was thinking Corsair Vengeance 8Gb ( This memory good for OCing?)
PSU - Antec HCP-1200 or the Corsair Ax1200
SSD- Crucial M4 128gb
Goin use my current HDD, Case, and monitor (1920x1080)

I need some suggestions on Mobo, I've read some reviews and forums about the asrock extreme 4 and it seems to be pretty good at OCing easily along with Asus P8Z68- V Pro. Just can't decide on a good solid one. Asus seems good, but not like the colors on it lol. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Strictly for gaming? Save your money and drop down to an i5-2500K or 2600K. That extra power in the i7 won't help unless you're doing some serious crunching like high end video editing, photo editing, CAD software and other heavily threaded applications.

Everything else looks fine, can't comment on the RAM because I don't know about it's ability to OC

That's what i got priced is the 2600k. What's the difference between the 590 or 6990? Think x2 3gb 580s would be best in long wrong?

If you are going to OC and watercool the whole rig then be sure of 2 things:

1.) The graphics cards has to be reference cards (no msi lightning, gigabyte soc, asus mars etc.), at least if you are going for a fullcover block for them. There is a few cards that is non-reference where you can get fullcover, but I cant remember which.

2.) When you pick your motherboard, you might as well watercool it. So far I have seen plenty of chipset cooling for the ASUS boards. If you arent cooling your chipset, vrms etc. Take a look at www.ekwaterblocks.com to see what you can cool with water.

3.) When it comes to memory overclocking, you should go for a pair of 1.5v memory sticks. I have Corsair Dominator 2133, 1.65v, and they can really overclock, until I use 4 sticks. Then I have to downclock them to 1833 to get them stable. Dont go for 1.65v sticks.

For a first time build that's pretty high end, and watercooling is quite a surprise to see from a 1st time builder. For your gaming uses and your gaming resolution you'd be fine with a Single GTX580 to be honest, 2 would be the absolute pinnacle, even for 3D on a single display. I wouldn't touch a GTX590 myself since they are now EOL, hence the monstrous price and limited availability. Memory wise Vengence models don't seem to oc very well outside of their specified ratings. GSkill RipJaws would be my choice. Motherboard wise you can't get much better than the Asus Maximus Extreme Z68 so that's a big tick in the box from me. Everything else looks solid.

Well I want it to last for a good 2 years smile.gif and If I'm goin build something I want it to be high end not lacking performance. What do you mean by EOL ( sorry I'm not very good with computer stuff ). So any 8GB GSkills with 1.5v is pretty much good?

EOL = End of Life.
GSkills RipJaws are little beasties plus 1.5v is the ideal Vdimm for SandyBridge
