My head hurt after reading about soo many threads about different type of brands, switches, keycaps, keycaps printings, you name it. I think I already read every thread here and on geekhack about mechanical keyboards, and I still can't decide on a keyboard yet.

I never though buying a mechboard will be this hard. I have never have so much indecision when buying something.

So I got enough of my confusion and I decide that you fellow OCNers will help me choose with this poll.

Stuff I already made my mind on.

Switches: I want them to be Cherry Mx Brown. I was between this and the reds. I choose this one because I do some typing, so this one will be better for typing and also good for gaming.

Form: Even though I love the look of the TKL I want a full size board. I do used the numpad because of my work I have to do some accounting once in a while, so the numpad is handy for me. I'm considering getting a TKL with reds later just for gaming.

My budget is 135$ including shipping.

Now what you guys are going to be choosing for me. The brand and which one I will be buying.

The choices:

Leopold Tactile Touch

$109.00 - $122.50 Shipped. Good looking keyboard, it came with a plastic cover that can be handy.

Noppoo Choc Pro

$99.99 - $127.99 Shipped. I seen a lot of happy people with the Choc Mini, so I expect this one to have the same great quality.

Rosewill RK-9000BR

$109.99 - $117.86 Shipped. This one is the cheaper version of all of them, but not by much. I have only read good things about them, and I like the look of the red plate.

WASD V1 Semi-Custom

$119.99 - $132.32 Shipped. I love the ability to do some customization on them. For example I will get this with red escape and green wasd. Also they came with a handy keycap puller which will be great when I need to clean it. I still have some confusion on what kind of laser method will be better and more comfortable.

So those are my choices, and I hope I get some help. I will be reping anyone who give some help here. Also if you choose other on the poll please specify.

Thanks. thumb.gif

Do you want PBT keycaps or ABS? PBT are much better than ABS unless the ABS is double shot. However, most PBT brown keyboards are tenkeyless also.

Do you want backlighting or don't care about it?

That's not necessarily true. People say tactile switches better for typing and linear switches are better for gaming, but that's not accurate. Switch types for different tasks is purely preference. For example, I personally prefer MX Reds the best for gaming and typing.

As far as keyboards, out of those I would go with the Rosewill, WASD, or Noppoo over the Leopold due to the first three using Costar stabilizers over Cherry. It's preference in feel, but I like the Costar stabilizers better. With the WASD you get to have more customization and they also have stellar customer service, so I think out of the three boards with Costar stabilizers I would go with WASD. Tbh, I would own a WASD if they had a tenkeyless model.

Well full keyboard with PBT are out of my budget and I don't need backlighting.

I did not vote. I'm bias. No matter which you choose I believe that you will be happy with the quality as they are all quite reputable.

POM keycaps are better than regular ABS ones. Therefore, I recommend you this one:

http://www.vendio.com/stores/E-sports-Gaming-equipments/item/mechanical-keyboard-noppoo/noppoo-pro-mechanical-gaming-k/lid=18974424

His store also sells tenkeyless quality PBT boards and Filco/Ducky Shining boards for around 160 if you're willing to spend a little more

Tiger Imports also sells very good quality ducky keyboards with brown switches:

Just get the cheapest and use the rest for keycaps or a wrist rest.

You really can't go wrong with any of them.

Also, why are some of you guys bringing up pbt keycaps? All the boards mentioned will come with ABS, aside from the choc pro.

Yes I know is purely preference, but the thing is I have never try a mechanical keyboard before, so I don't know what my preference will be. I don't have any access to any mechboard to try, so I have to make my decision on others users experience.

I have been using this old Logitech keyboard with rubber dome for 7 years already. For what I can tell, the rubber dome feeling is more close to a tactile feeling than linear, so I don't have any idea how linear will feel. If I choose reds and them I don't like the feel of linear switches I will be stuck with this keyboard for some time, so I think brown switches is a safer choice for me. At the end I'm sure I will like it much more than this old keyboard I'm typing this at this moment.

I'm really not interested on a wrist rest. The Rosewill that is the cheaper option, if I include a red esc and green wasd keypcaps plus a keycap puller, I will be paying the same amount as buying the keyboard from WASD.

If I want to customize I think I will go with WASD instead.
