2:41:41 in HD 1080P took an hour an 18 minutes..

How is this timing on my i7 950 utilallizing both CPU and GPU?

What software are you using?
That sounds about right.
Do you notice any problem with video quality after conversion with amd app?
My experience, i get fussiness in the video usong gpu transcodong with amd cards.

If you do a lot of video conversion.
Sandy is a great solution.
Media espresso with intel quick sync. Takes 6-8 mins per film(720p).
