Since silence is you main concern and quality/reliability are also top priorities you should go for a Kingwin Lazer Platinum or Stryker(fanless Platinum) unit even though they sell at a premium, I suggest the 550W Lazer Platinum or at most the 750W version.. 1KW is simply absurd.

This is the most sensible thing posted in this thread.

But if price is at all a concern, you can save like $20 and get a Seasonic X750 instead for $110. X750 should be in or around fanless mode at the load you should typically pulling. At full system load, you'll still be running it in the very low speed region, and I can't imagine you hearing it over the hard drives and the HAF case fans or CPU cooler.

Here's the Kingwin Lazer Platinum 550W, which would be running in fanless mode all the time for you.

These are both excellent power supplies of top tier quality, similar or very close to the Seasonic 1000W 80 plus Platinum unit

Your welcome smile.gif

Keep in mind that a quality unit with a long warranty will last two or three build cycles. It's worth the extra money (IMHO) for the confidence of quality.

I will most likely be going with the seasonic x750 or the 450w fanless depending on my future GPU strategy smile.gif
