Choose extend these displays. That should do it.

Then set the monitor you want to play game as PRIMARY and the other one as EXTENDED.

You do not NEED to create Eyefinity (Single Large Surface) in CCC if you don't want to play games on both monitors!

That is actually wrong. You need to use the other DVI port as the stand alone DVI and HDMI share a clock. It is the same setup on my 6950s.

It's not about knowing everything. The 68xx and 69xx are designed the same way when they have that layout of ports. I have TRIED that connection method previously with 4 monitors and it didn't work due to the card only have 2 clocks it can split.

I think the OP is smart enough to know that for eyefinity he would need an active adapter but since he is not using eyefinty and wants to only extend his desktop he doesn't. Just because you could not understand what I meant does not mean the OP won't.

It says it right there in the post. That is the wrong DVI port. The 6870 has a DVI-D and a DVI-I port. ONE of the GPUs TWO clock generators shares the DVI-I and HDMI port. So if he were to plug into BOTH of those ports one of the monitors would not function. You must use either BOTH DVI ports or the HDMI and DVI-D ports if you are connecting two monitors via those methods.

I hope this clarifies your understanding of this subject matter and please do some research before providing people with incorrect diagrams.

Woah, this has gone far enough. I gave you 3 (three) posts being humble for you to make correction but you dig deeper into your own misunderstanding.

I saw your thread and just have your Eyefinity setup recently. You posted in every thread right after my post about Eyefinity. I don't see the need to declare someone's post as "wrong" as I consider it's very rude. OP can later find out which post is right or giving wrong information.

Single-link DVI displays and HDMI displays use one TMDS/DisplayPort transmitter and one clock signal each. DisplayPort displays use one TMDS/DisplayPort transmitter and no clock signal.

Top DVI-I is Dual Link Analog & Digital (which you crossed).

Lower DVI-D is Single Link Digital Only.

*Hint*

A DVI to HDMI connection will work ONLY to connect DVI-D single-link to HDMI

Depends what you're doing. If you just want to extend the desktop, you can use HDMI and the top DVI port. The bottom won't be usable since these cards have the HDMI and bottom DVI sharing a clock.

If you are looking to game across both screens seemlessly with eyefinity then yea, you need the adapter. The only real difference is in the PC reading the display as seperate monitors or one large display. It is also recommended that with eyefinity all displays have the same resolution. I don't even think it can be done if they are different. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

Don't you think you contradict youself in post #7 above?

Or this is your pride talking now?  Claim adjuster? lachen.gif

By the look of your avatar, you are a girl. If you are a girl, just forget all about it.
