You're doing it wrong, if you wanted to buy an FX-8150 then when you're searching newegg.com or wherever you need to search for "FX-8150" and buy that.

I'm in the same boat as the OP, I've held off of buying anything at the moment and still running a 955 C2 *sigh....Guess I'm just gonna hold out and and see what later versions of BD will have to offer.

@ OP: I would have to agree with the 1100T. I have the FX-8150 and compared to my 955 it was an upgrade, but compared to the 1100T, not really worth the extra money at all.

1100>8150 for gaming, please dont even consider any other fx unless its an 8 core but i would still get a 1090/1100, i tried both and kept my 1100

WHats important with gaming are the clock for clock performance of a cpu, bf3 will use all 8 cores and therefor that game would do good but my 1100 does great on that too but games that only use 4 cores the 1100 will do better, for those that already have a high end 990fx or 890fx board get a 1090/1100 on sale this black friday and you will love it. To push the 8150 you really need a water cooler, it has to stay under 62c, I couldnt do that with 1.43v on my cooling on prime95 but the same system on my 1100t at 1.5 keeps it at 42-44c on prime95 for hours depending on ambient temp. BD is a nice cpu but just not worth the cost, you can get an intel i5 2500k for the same or less (microcenter $180) and it will do way better at gaming.

For those planning on a motherboard upgrade AND an AMD whether its a 1090 or 8120 intel just has more to offer.

yes it does. socket change in approx 8 months, hugely expensive prices for percentages of performance increase on anything you actually might use (im leaving out 'folding' as a regular pastime or work activity) - ah, and an option to run your localized in-room furnace with SB-E series, along with a $900 price tag.

..................

getting a 990fx board would get someone going for at least 3-4 years into future by upgrading their cpu only. unlike intel, amd doesnt shove new motherboards up their clients' arsez with every cpu revision/generation.

If I were you I'd go with the 1100T. In my eyes there is no reason to go with the bulldozer. At the end of the day it's a dissapointing chip and you can get better ones for the money. Not trying to step on toes it's just the way things are right now. I have no attachments to processer manufacturers and anyone who does is a little off in my eyes.

I have a 1090t in my parents computer and they mainly use it for light stuff but also some video editing and it's been a great processor overall. With that said if you didn't already have the motherboard I would definitely recomend SB which I have in my rig. It's just a great all around chip and with the 2500k going for 150 bucks in some places it's a great value as well.

it has the fastest performance in encryption with truecrypt. some people care for their data you know. currently there is no reasonably priced option other than 8150 for running stuff on an encrypted volume.

....................

it would be stupid for someone to invest himself/herself in a socket that intel has ALREADY moved out. even sb-e will be outdated with ivy bridge - despite what they say. it has been intel's policy to force people to buy sockets.

someone with a 990fx mobo has a few years to go at least. not 6 months.
