[MacRumors] More Claims of a 2048x1536 Resolution iPad 3 Display - Page 21

I'll be getting this when it comes out too, been holding out for a while now.

This thread is hilarious, can't believe that multiple people will fight tooth and nail that having a higher res screen is a BAD thing.....you're just grasping at straws and making yourself look stupid.

Its not a bad thing its a fantastic thing. What i am saying is that if this does not show up there will be not much reason to get iPad 3. In speed iPad 2 is not lacking so what else can then do.

Now its 100% better vs single core. Also Its same idea as having a dual core CPU now and a quad to use Windows. The only real reason of having the quad is for stuff that actually use it. Dropping a iPad 3 with a Quad core will not make it faster unless they make apps especially for the quad core and only the quad core. You are not going to get much faster response then iPad 2 now in terms of OS.

Oh, no, I'm not saying all apps are fully using it but they are benefiting from it on several levels. However, iOS itself is capable of using all of it and putting a quad-core in the iPad 3 would allow for more powerful apps to be made. We won't really see apps that can make use of a quad-core until we have a device that is a quad-core.

And if this is true of the iPad, the same should be true of Android based slates. Putting in faster hardware won't really make it any faster but as I said it does allow for the creation of apps which will use the hardware. (To my knowledge, Android has no apps which utilize a quad-core aside from tech demos.)

However Apple may not go the way of a Cortex A15 quad-core rather a A15 dual-core with a higher clock speed. Or perhaps they'll just keep the same clock speed which will mean more battery life.

Are you a hunch back? You are missing the point.

"0" inches is an uncomfortable viewing experience. Same with being 4 inches from your monitor.

I enjoy reading on my SGS II from more then a foot away. And from that, I enjoy having a less costly and better performing phone while at it. Point being, who cares for pixel density when you are in a comfortable viewing distance in which you are unable to determine the individual pixels.

Nice try though.

I'm sitting 2 feet from a 83.86 PPI screen viewing everything comfortably. I only notice the individual pixels when there is no AA and if I try. So no.

No one is saying that they shouldn't go with a higher DPI. It's just that, the argument of "I can see individual pixels" is only viable to those who view their screen at an uncomfortable viewing distance. This is just for people making a big deal out of nothing special. Likewise, there may not be enough bandwidth present for the higher resolutions in any demanding application. Therefore, enjoy pixelated/blurry 3d applications.

You can still see an improvement in crispness from a distance even if you can't actually see an individual pixel though. At my normal half a foot to one foot viewing distance the difference is noticeable between the screen on the iPhone 3GS which almost looks a little blurry and the screen on the iPhone 4S which looks bold, and crisp. The iPad has an even lower PPI than what the 3GS does, so the increase to 263 will be quite significant and very noticeable.

Not enough bandwidth? It won't happen if that was the case, but it won't be. The iPad 3 will have 1GB of RAM (which I believe is shared with the GPUs) and more powerful GPUs either by increasing the quantity from 2 to 4 or so, or by using newer (if available) GPUs.

The fact is that with normal eyes you cant see pixels in iPhone 4/4S no matter the viewing distance. Now anything over that i would say it pointless. I have tried GS II and while when u are normally using it you cant tell much its still lower compare to iPhone. Sometimes i keep my phone when watching movies very very close.

Give the exact same screen with different resolutions, and then moving these screens 30 feet down and the higher resolution screen 60 feet down the hall, then honestly tell me which one looks more "crisp". You don't quite understand the whole "retina" argument.

Um...what? I'm talking about the hardware physical restrictions towards drawing the image at a respectable frame rate. We aren't talking about memory bandwidth. This is all dependent on the actual bus...which doesn't look like you have any idea about.
