Yes but the graphics will need power to maintain smoothness at those resolutions

Crazy. Especially since iOS is just a horrible tablet OS... can't see it benefiting much from a higher resolution screen unless apple do some MAJOR work on the OS.
to me all tablets are gimmicky and aren't practical yet. Give them a couple of years and that might change, I can never see myself spending more than $400 on one though, probably because I got my m11x for $480 and it plays skyrim, and to me thats worth a WHOLE lot more than a tablet. Mouse and keyboard are still more practical IMHO and tablets have a long way to go, and they are overpriced TBH.

Lol my M11x r1 can't even touch oblivion, let alone skyrim xD
Anyway, I think tablets will become more valid once Windows 8 is released; the slates look really nice.
I also think things like the Asus EEEpad slider should be implemented more often, I cant get along with on screen keyboards :|

That's true, but still we shouldn't see much of an impact on battery life. Taking into account the die shrink, we may even see better battery life.

Would love to see how it looks!

And I thought 1280x720 on newer Android phones was crazy.

Indeed. The 720p droids use PenTile displays, it seems to be easier with PenTile to produce a high resolution display although I suspect that's because it has a lower subpixel density. Samsung's already got a 6.1 inch 2560x1600 PenTile display, but the iPad 3's display will be normal biggrin.gif

Yep, that's also why the Galaxy Nexus is SAMOLED and not SAMOLED+. But at that resolution, I doubt anyone can even notice a difference. It's funny, they keep pumping the resolution yet... just to see anything on a non-mobile website you have to zoom in like 3 times laughingsmiley.gif

But who am I kidding, if only my SGSII was the HD variant...

The HTC Rezound uses a regular RGB matrix (non-PenTile) screen, and is in fact is the handset with the highest PPI available in the US right now if I'm not mistaken.

1280*720 and 342 PPI. I want....so badly.

Even the iPad 3 @ 2048*1536 won't be able to beat this biggrin.gif

Never seen so many people complain about a high resolution and better performance. If this were news about better displays or performance for PCs or Androids everyone would be wetting themselves, but because it's Apple everyone is crying about it.

To everyone saying the resolution is too high, go look at an iPhone 4/4S, the pixel density made a huge difference and they want that kind of density for tablets now, so what's the big deal?
