Need help please, recent i7 system crashing, lately Memory management BSOD

Hi
First apologies if this is the wrong section but I cannot find the help section.redface.gif

I am recently(past few days) having trouble with my first ever build biggrin.gif (couple weeks old).

It has crashed 3 times on occasion all while doing the same things (although I cannot reproduce the crash on demand):
Listening to music and saving a file with Blender (3d software) (~300mb file) to HDD, saving is usually close to instant.

-At first it will show not responding in my 3d application then windows will not be able to open anything (including task manager) but I can switch between windows and lock(windows+L).
-Eventually the music will lock up (zzzzzzz)
-Google Chrome will pop up a message: to the effect of "the required data was not placed into memory because of an I/O error status of 0xc000000e"
-The system will fall after a moment and try to restart automatically.
-The boot error of 0xc000000e will show until I power off and start the computer again.

-One time my save file was corrupted (or incomplete)

Once more:
Most recently it has crashed when I locked the computer (windows+L) (chrome was open), walked away and came back to the boot error.

I have run Windows memory diagnostic with no error to report, and also windows check disk on my f3 HDD with not error.

My specs are as (or see my rig):
_____________
-Intel Core i7 2600K @41 CPU Ratio with offset -0.065 (mild overclock seems stable, run p95 for 6ish hours and linx with full ram usage 3-4 times)

-OCZ Agility 3 60GB SSD (Windows 7 64bit installed on here)

-Samsung SpinPoint F3 1TB HD103SJ (Data, music and some programs stored)

-Corsair XMS3 memory module 16GB 1600MHz-1.5v (originally mobo had this memory set at 1300mhz for whatever reason, I changed to 1600mhz, and I assure the box for my ram is 1600.)

-ASRock Z68 Extreme4 Gen3 Motherboard

-Sapphire Radeon HD6950 2GB (shader unlocked with flick of switch)
____________

My mind is pointing towards the ram as a culprit for some reason, but I really have no idea.

Would love any help or recommendation for any test to do. Here's hoping to no major hardware issue.

Thanks very much!

from experience the xms3 sticks are pretty low budget and quality. Try running single sticks?

Hi thanks for reply. I have not tried removing sticks at this point because I cannot consistently produce the crash. (the 3 times it happen was while I was working, the other was just out of the blue)

I should have mention this, sorry.

searched for '0xc000000e' errors online with your descriptions of symptoms, all of the solved threads seemed to to resolve with replacing a dying hard drive, a bad HDD controller, or out-dated HDD controller drivers

best of luck

The difference though is that I don't have windows installed on my HDD, its on the SSD, and that the google chrome error message about memory with the same code.

Although I did see today that the HDD boot priority is set before the SSD. (I change that now)
Would it come up with that error if the computer tried to access the HDD to see if there is boot information yet the drive was malfunctioning? If so I would take, that if the crash occurs again yet no boot error shows(as the SSD is higher priority now), then It's very likely the HDD.

Today I test the RAM with memtest86+ with no error after 1 pass.

Been without this problem for a while now until today.
Same problems and with the default boot device now set to the SSD I have the same boot error, only this time I was saving a file with GIMP to HDD (around 300mb) and listening with Winamp again. This time Winamp was the one to complain the data could not be placed in memory.

Is there any reason I cannot find a problem/error with stress testing? Is it really worth it to stress ram sticks with one installed at a time?

I am going to also increase my CPU offset to -0.055, instead of -0.065.

That is the last thing you should do when having a problem. The very first thing you do is return to stock. If it doesn't happen during stock its your OC. If it still happens then run stress tests on the CPU and RAM. I see that you ran memtest but I usually run it for 3 passes to be sure.

Hi,
Problem with changing configuration at this stage is that it could be weeks/months before it crashes again/ or doesn't crash, then I may never really know if it's the issue or not. confusedsmiley.png

Last night I ran again memtest for 3.5hours/2 passes, no errors.

Also prime95 overnight for just over 9 hours, no problems.

Later when I have some time, probably run linx some more (as it seems to use them ram more) or maybe intel burn.

Or perhaps something different, an audio device test, if such thing exists. Perhaps just run a boat load of complex filters and vst's in an audio software, whilst also running something that uses RAM and HDD.
