Skyrim: Breeze Home bed oddities

Thread Starter
There are two beds in Breeze Home, one of which says "owned" and I can not sleep in it because it is owned. So, uh, if I own the house, who owns the second bed in my house?

Secondly, any time I sleep in the main bed in Breeze Home, I never get the rested bonus. If I walk over to the Inn and rest, I get the rested bonus. I've searched google like crazy and can't seem to find any answers to this and only found one other post where someone complains of the same thing.

Any help would be appreciated!

i believe one of those beds is for your companion. How long do you sleep, if you sleep for longer than a certain amount of time then you get well rested

Also if your a werewolf you can't get well rested or rested.

Thanks for the reply. I have tried sleeping for as long as 12 hours but I don't get the bonus. I can't have any sort of curses or other issues preventing me from getting the rested bonus because if I sleep at the inn, I get the bonus just fine.

Just thought I'd let you know that I have the same issue. I definitely bought the house (lost 5000 gold and got the Breezehome key), but it seems like I don't actually own the house. I never get the "well rested" bonus while sleeping there. Also, my Breezehome house looks like a dump. I see screenshots of other peoples' Breezehomes and they have a lit fire and a bunch of furniture I don't have. Maybe I didn't complete the transaction all the way.

Edit: When I say it looks like a dump, I mean there are just a bunch of worthless crates and tons of cobwebs everywhere.

You have to go to the Steward and buy the house upgrades. They are about 200g each.

Aye, it's a little misleading to say a house is 5000g, or 10,000g... because it's basically an abandoned shack until you upgrade it all the way.

I like my little Breezehome. I've made my own personal changes by dragging and dropping items around. Tedious as hell to do, but the end result is kinda cool.

Oh man, thank you so much for this. Just out of curiosity, will purchasing the upgrades make me lose the stuff I already have in the chests and scattered around on the floor? I guess I can just do a save before doing the upgrades to be sure.

You shouldn't, but this is a Bethesda game so always have like 3 saves for back up.

This.
Over the years, I've deduced nice ways of organizing a mass of backup saves for Oblivion and Fallout while playing.
There was actually a mod for Fallout that sent a copy of every quicksave to a folder.

Does anyone get the well rested message when waking up after sleeping in Breeze Home? Does the bed to the LEFT of the stairs (as you are going up them) say "owned" for you?
