[Inc] Piracy Means "I Am Alive" Not Coming to PC

"We’ve heard loud and clear that PC gamers are *****ing about there being no version for them," said Mettra. "But are these people just making noise just because there’s no version or because it’s a game they actually want to play? Would they buy it if we made it?"

...

"It’s hard because there’s so much piracy and so few people are paying for PC games that we have to precisely weigh it up against the cost of making it. Perhaps it will only take 12 guys three months to port the game to PC, it’s not a massive cost but it’s still a cost. If only 50,000 people buy the game then it’s not worth it."

EDIT: Link not working due to profanity in the url. Hmm...

Well I would have bought your game, if you'd at all marketed it toward PC gamers, made a PC version, and didn't treat us like we're all thieving scumbags. Thanks a lot.

If "only" 50,000 people pay full price for the game, that's $2.5 million. I SERIOUSLY doubt it costs $2.5 million to port a game that is already completed over to PC. If those 12 guys each make $100,00 yearly, 3 months of labor for those 12 people costs $300,000. That aside, I also seriously doubt only 50,000 people would pay the full price of the game. Selling it on Steam pretty much brings an instant million sales.

1) Constantly make garbage games and/or ports and dumb down everything for the consoltards (Hello skyrim)
2) No one buys your games
3) ????
4) Blame Piracy

I heard when people like a company they are willing to spend money on their products, and when a company makes garbage or does things people dont like they boycott or dont give that company money.

Oh look I just purchased a 2nd SC2 account so I can play in Korea. Ive now payed $100 for two accounts for the same game. Worth it. <3 Blizzard even if they arent perfect.

Oh it's Ubisoft complaining again..... If you didn't have such draconic DRM forced on your games then maybe people would actually buy them..... I stopped buying Ubisoft games after Far Cry 2, so no lost for me.

Yes because building a customer base has no place in buisiness anymore...especially the "black sheep" of the gamers aka PC gamers.

I bought Battlefield 2 + its expansions 3, possibly even 4 times. Why?

-I pre-ordered BF2 before it released, EVEN THOUGH I couldn't even play it online. I was still stuck on dialup until a little before I got a job in March 2006. I was stuck playing single player for months.

-I bought BF2SF immediately on release as well as Euro Force and Armored Fury.

-I bought 2142 on release.

-I bought the BF2 Collector's DVD collection when it came out. Just to support the game that was still amazing 4 years later.

-I bought the BF2 collection on Steam, again just to support the fact that the game was STILL amazing 6 years later.

-Somewhere in between those purchases, I bought a copy for my friend that really wanted to play.

In conclusion: You reap what you sow. Make a great PC game, and it'll sell VERY well and bring your customers back for the next release. Make a sloppy half-assed PC port and you will get sloppy half-assed sales and off-the-chart piracy rates for that game AND pretty much all of your future games since they all more than likely received the same half-assed development.

There is more piracy on PC, yes.

There is also more "brain" and quality oriented users than on console.

I Am Alive has been underway for a "couple" this is just a poor excuse from a company that has gone downhill for years.

I don't buy games from Ubisoft no matter what game it is. They just suck in my opinion.

Good games get bought. Bad games get pirated.

Thanks anyways Ubisoft.
