Hi All,

I would like to ask your expert advice on the following

I own a M5A78L-M LX mobo, equiped with Athlon II X4 640 3.0 Ghz processor and currently using Corsair XMS3 (CM3X2G1333C9)

However i wish to upgrade to Corsair Vengeance 1600 Mhz 8G (2x4G) low profile since i also would like to upgrade my cpu cooler to overclock a little.

Reference: http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-product-family/vengeance/vengeance-low-profile-8gb-dual-channel-ddr3-memory-kit-cml8gx3m2a1600c9w.html

or should i stick on this instead:

http://www.corsair.com/memory-by-product-family/xms-classic/cmx8gx3m4b1333c9.html

I am asking this since in the user manual included in the mobo box it was indicated the it can support 1600 Mhz memory but when i check asus website this mobo is limited up to 1333 Mhz.

Thank you.

By default, the memory will boot up at 1333Mhz. Just increase the memory frequency to 1600Mhz form the BIOS and voila! thumb.gif

Hi I'm new here, and i would like to post my ASUS M5A78L-M LE and my Athlon II x3 450 3.2Ghz Unlocked to Phenom II x4 B50 and OCd at 3.6ghz. Earlier this morning, and it's stable, No BSODs but i am monitoring my vrm, ic and chokes because it may get too hot. You may just want to try OCing your asus boards. smile.gif hope i get some good feedbacks from you guys!

Today, I have a new PC

Motherboard: Asus M5A78L-M LE AM3+
CPU: AMD FX Series FX-8120 8X

But I have a problem. When I turn on the computer, I see this notification: This CPU is not supported by this model
***?!?!!?. Well, I have been researching and...

Motherboard Asus M5A78L-M LE AM3+ Supports CPU up to 95 W. BUT MY CPU IS 125W!!!. At the start of this post, nobody says this. Asus M5A78L-M LE AM3+ is for 95W CPU's, right? Do I have to change my MB?

In fact, the first post says "Also waiting to hear from a member if he/she ever ended up frying the board as a result of high OCing on 125W processors (LE/LX versions specifically) ." BUT IF THE "LE" MB DONT WORKS TO 125W PROCCESORS, WHY YOU SAY THAT???

I don't understan ANYTHING and I'M HYSTERICAL

The LE version being rated for just 95W is a given, that's why i never mentioned it mate. Try doing a BIOS update to the latest version. For that, try getting hold of a spare CPU. The reason you're getting that error message is because the chip is not on the official CPU support list. Also, is there a way you could return the 8120 for the 95W 8100?

"Also waiting to hear from a member if he/she ever ended up frying the board as a result of high OCing on 125W processors (LE/LX versions specifically) ." - The reason i said that is because i have a 125w quad running on my board as well. I initially got the same error as you, which was fixed by updating the BIOS.

then, if I update my bios, even though it is 95W, my cpu(125w) will work fine without problems?
I'm afraid. I do not want to break the pc
