[Pics] EK 6870 Fullcover fits the HIS IceQ 6950?

My mate bought a HIS Radeon HD6950 2GB IceQ.
We were talking about a waterblock for it. And I told him about CoolingConfigurator.com
This is what we found..
1080

@First I was like "Herp, this is clearly wrong"
Being an idiot and not know much about the 6000 series.
Then I got off my ass and had a look and compared the two.

And just to be anal, I checked the other HIS 6950
158

This blew my mind.

did HIS really use the reference 6870 PCB for the 6950 ICEQ 2GB?
Also: HIS made a 6870 ICEQ aswell that is on the same PCB.

Why did AMD just make the 6870 PCB the all round reference?
This would have made life so much more easier.

Side Note: Has anyone out there actually tried to use the 6870 Water block on it?
Because I'm tempted to try it just to find out.

Check the watercooling forums, as this topic has been covered a few times. AMD's revised 6950 pcb = 6870 reference pcb which means the 6870 block also fits with some minor differences.

Here's a similar thread btw.
