[Solved] Case Fans with High CFM and Low Noise

Thread Starter
Hello,

I have been in the market for a couple of 120mm case fans and CPU fan that are both high in CFM and low in dba. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Any help is appreciated.

Noctua fans are some of the best out there for noise/performance ratio.

I don't care for the color but they are by far the best fans on the market and will last for years running 100%

Thanks, so would you recommend them for both case and cpu?

Yes, they cost a little more than the average fans but they are qualty built and are very quite. I would replace the stock antec case fans with two 120mm Noctua NF-S12B for the best noise reduction. If your case allows for front intake also put a NF-S12B to help with positive airflow I know this is a costly upgrade for cooling/noise reduction but it will be worth it. I have yet to upgrade all my fans because I was over on my budget of $1000 for my current rig. I plan on upgraded all mt fans for christmas because i love it when my pc is silent while running movies and playing games. good luck

If the 120's are for the CPU cooler the NF-S12B are very much not recommended, they are case fans nothing more. they move more air but lack the static pressure to be used on HSF and RADs.
A better choice would be the NF-P12..

Noctua is a great brand. The Akasa Apaches and Vipers are probably a bit better. Scythe Gentle Typhoons have lots of static pressure and are easy to find. You can get them at FrozenCPU, Sidewinder Computers, etc. Servos and Delta's are great too. I think Sanyo is at the top of the line. Servo and Delta don't have any 140mm 12V fans IIRC and Sanyo does. I think it's probably something like this...

Other brands stick with the ones after this < Nidec Servo/Delta < Sanyo Denki

They may be nice and quiet, but they are poor static pressure performers, and do NOT move a lot of air, so as a CPU fan, i'd look elsewhere.

I have a Scythe Gentle Typhoon but it is extremely too loud for my tastes.

Any other suggestions?

Or maybe I should just trade in my Venomous-X for one of those Corsair H series coolers? My only issue is sound, my current setup keeps my CPU nice and cool.

Which Gentle typhoon do you have? they have a variety of speeds/cfm The AP-10 I have is very very quiet.

IIRC, they don't make an 80mm fan, but another 80mm would be the vantec stealth.

If your only issue is sound, then by all means, but the OP asked for a high CFM. Neither of these fans (noctua or stealth) fit into that category.

Yeah I edited the original post to reflect 120mm fans instead of 80mm (mistake of my part, was thinking about my older systems).

I will take a look at the AP-10, thanks.

Let me clarify: Sound is my issue, but I do want a replacement fan that is the best of both worlds where it is has high CFM and its barely audible.
