It would be the worst thing to do as it a downgrade like every one else is saying. You will not get used to one HD6970s going from 2x GTX 460 SLI. Instead you would be beating your head on your desk wondering why you did that.

Save your cash until you can either xfire The 6970 or upgrade when the next series comes out
No point in dropping your performance
And when the next series comes out the cards would be cheaper thumb.gif

I had 8800GT SLI at one point When a game didn't have a SLI profile, I make one using Nvidia enhancer at that time, With 2x GTX 460 1GBs, I hardy need to make my own SLI profiles. When I do it either for a mmo that doesnt have a profile. When that Happens I use Nvidia inspector.

But most part I haven't ran into a game with my SLI GTX 460s that doesn't like SLI, Now I ran into games which hated Cross fire no matter if I made my own cross fire profile for that game. APB hated Crossfire HD5770s at the time it was in beta. But it doesn't hate SLI.

That's why it be a downgrade from my Two experiences with using SLI with both two 8800GT's and Two GTX 460 1GB's. Because I really havent ran into a game which doesn't like the use of SLI unless its a mmo that dont have a profle which I fix by making a custom one.

You don't gotta use Nvidia panel for making SLI profiles, Nvidia inspector has a adv tool included which you can use when you need to that offer a more adv options with the profiles.
