some priates mainly do so because they are poor after spending all their money on the rig, and if they didn't priate, they'd never play a new game

and not all pirated games are ever even played by the pirate, the could be just preparing for WW3 when there won't be any new PC games, just real life Fallout 3

That's ridiculous. As if you need a $300+ GPU to play games. 8800gt level performance can still get the job done at decent settings to this day. If you're a developer/publisher, all you do is look at how many copies of your game are floating around the torrent sites and you die a little inside. Why use the resources and the effort for tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands to swipe a copy of your game and never compensate you for it? Doesn't matter if you bought it and just want a crack to escape DRM, or if you just want to "try it out", all they see is a torrent statistic. Pirates' intentions aren't easily communicated. All that does is strengthen their resolve to limit what they do on the PC side.

Make good games and I will buy it. I had no hesitation to buy BF3, Skyrim, Batman. Make good games and people will buy. Skyrim is RIDICULOUS!!!!!!

And with Heroes 6 being a total blowout (I feel so sorry for the ppl that bought it, even though it was evident during the Beta that the game was going to be aweful) Ubisoft has nothing of interest to me.

Come back when you have better games to sell... Back to playing my crack known as Dungeon Defenders...

Piracy is a real problem...but it is not in the scope that Ubisoft thinks it is. It is not much different than knock-offs and imitation products. It will cut into sales a fair amount, but it won't stop them. There have been a few situations that piracy got way out of hand, but those are exceptions and not the norm. (Titan Quest was one...supposedly that game had a pirated to sales ratio of like 5 to 1, but those numbers came out from the studio as they were shutting down.

And people need to drop the crap about if pirates like a game they will go buy it. Where are these people? I really want to get know them. I have yet to meet a human being with morals like this...I've even been cheated by a Nun! (I was scammed when I bought home made jelly...turned out she never made any for any one that bought it). I seriously try to be a decent person and I am always getting looks of confusion or questions asking me why the hell am I doing that.

I find it hard to believe that any one in this world would buy something because they like it when they can have it for free. Such a person would be in a very, very small minority...if I pirated a game...I would probably do the same, but since I work in software I know all the work and trouble the developers go through...and I don't work with games where you you need to pay attention to the more artistic sides of the project so they loose even more hair with each endeavor. I could never bring my self to pirate something. The biggest problem I see is that I can't remember the last game that I was actually pleased with my purchase of a game...Mass Effect 2 or the Witcher 2 was likely tha last ones. As for a Ubisoft game? I'd have to go all the way back to Silent Hunter 4 to have that feeling.

Yup tired old excuse

I am the only person who bought skyrim on PC everyone else I know pirated it, they just didnt want to pay for it. But I guess the mentality here is it must be a crap game. Why someone would want to play a crap game is beyond me. I am not defending ubisoft and dont care if they go bankrupt or not at this point (they wont as they have consoles which makes up their sales) but these reasons to pirate are a lame defense.

99% of ppl who pirate do it because it's a free game. End of story.

The "I'm demoing the game", "Can't get the game due to no stock/not available in that region", etc crowd fall into the 1%

There is virtually ZERO justification for piracy, and ppl do it because they know they won't get prosecuted...
