[Eurogamer] Ubisoft explains why Ghost Recon: Future Soldier won't come to PC(Confirmed for PC) - Page 8

It isn't exactly hard to pirate xbox360 or ps3 games, i wonder why they think pc is all about piracy.
95% of their consumer base are pirates? must be a small consumer base.
They probably think a crack to bypass their DRM = pirating.

I find their games to be really good in Graphics & gameplay like the AC series. But it is ubisoft which is making the wrong decision for the PC platform. I was waiting to get Ghost Recon Future soldier on PC & was going to preorder that because I loved GRAW 1 & 2's gameplay.

I hope they regret their decision.

Why are they insulting us when they say PC is a pirates platform? I have seen in my country people using modded consoles for playing a pirated copy than purchasing an original. Also original PC games are much cheaper when it compared to consoles & that too almost my 1/4th of the console game's price.

I use my Xbox 360 controller on PC only & I find it more enjoyable Plus Keyboard & mouse combo is still unbeatable when it comes to most of the games.

I believe PC is the most interesting platform for gaming because of its customisebility.

But I will still respect Ghost Recon series as I found it to be the best Original stealth FPS game.

I love how everyone in this thread says if ubisoft games were good it wouldnt be pirated, why would people want to play a bad game then? Its a lame response made by anybody who supports piracy, you could take the approach of not bothering to play it, like why waste your precious time?

As for ubisoft games not being good that is subjective, I personally thought Assassins Creed 2 was a great game, had as much fun with it as the Witcher 2 and it was better than any valve game imo. However AC2 was the time when pc users were still hating ubisoft, I also had no problem with with ubisofts drm while valve games would always give me the source engine crashed bs. Also people really need to stop pulling the witcher 2 card in terms of sales, it sold well for being made by a small developer but no way compares to cash ubisoft pulls in from consoles. I dont even think it sold 2 million yet. Other than Blizzard games I cannot think of anything on PC that sells well enough for Ubisoft to even bother focusing on PC.

However I never like ghost recon or ubisoft's recent games so I am going with the nothing of value was lost.

http://blog.wolfire.com/2010/05/Another-view-of-game-piracy
Quote:
Many PC game developers find that about 90% of their users are running pirated copies -- does this mean that piracy is killing PC games? Let's try our alternative explanation, and see if these statistics are possible even if only 20% of worldwide PC gamers are pirates. The average PC gamer worldwide only buys about three games a year, and plays them for a long time [4]. I buy many more than that, and you probably do too, but again, we are not average gamers! On the other hand, game pirates might download a new game every few days, for a total of about 125 games a year. Given these numbers, games would see 90% piracy rates even though only 20% of gamers are pirates.

Are these numbers accurate? The NPD recently conducted an anonymous survey showing that only 4% of PC gamers in the US admit to pirating games [5], a number that is comparable to XBox 360 piracy statistics [6] . However, since piracy is inversely proportionate to per-capita GDP, we can expect piracy rates to increase dramatically in places like Russia, China and India, driving up the world-wide average. Let's say to 20%.

This means that if all pirates would otherwise buy as many games as the average consumer, then game developers would (at most) be losing 20% of their revenue to piracy.

Ubisoft basically re-sells consumers the exact game series, with slightly less new content each time (Ass creed, Ghost Rec etc.). They develop these games for dirt cheap in regions like Singapore for pennies on the $, then have the nerve to charge $60+ per copy while blaming piracy for their woes.

Gabe Newell said it best- : "Our goal is to create greater service value than pirates, and this has been successful enough for us that piracy is basically a non-issue for our company. For example, prior to entering the Russian market, we were told that Russia was a waste of time because everyone would pirate our products. Russia is now about to become our largest market in Europe." thumb.gif

Ubisoft has got to most ignorant developer on the planet. Hands down. They should seriously just get out of the industry with that attitude, not that they give anything worth while to the gaming world anyways.

The maker, Ubisoft Shanghai, is the same maker making I Am Alive and the now famous quote by Stanislas Mettra.

No surprise.

Ubisoft, you sure like to hate on PC gamers.

I sure you don't expect to ever come back to PC.

EDIT: Actually, keep this trash game off the PC. Now I remember what you did to the PC version of Ghost Recon: Warfighter.
