Not surprising mate, MSI boards are notorious for crapping out on users. The company is least bothered about improving upon their faults and continue to cheap out on quality. The best part is, they still continue to charge users a nice little bundle for their "quality", overclocking-oriented(i meant this extremely loosely) boards. C'mon MSI,put in SOME effort hmmsmiley02.gif. The reason the CPU didn't throttle is 'cuz MSI offer no VRM protection of any sort on ANY of their boards. Hell, my bare 3+1 phase ASUS has more sack than a heatsinked 4+1 MSI biggrin.gif. The Extreme 4 is an amazing board for the price and is well worth it. The Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 is is my personal favorite and is an absolute beast for OC'ing. Quality guaranteed.
Welcome to OCN thumb.gif

LOL, i'll think of something.

MSI got it right with the "military class" slogan, since almost everything the military gets is free biggrin.gif

You got all the necessary measures in place so you should be good. However, the VRMs are of sup-par quality and there's only so much that cooling can do. Not to scare you, but only time will tell mate. For more info, refer to the "about VRMs and MOSFETs" link in my sig.
