This CPU just render all 6-Core SB-E useless because there reason people that bought them is for multi-tasking which this CPU does much better.

I wonder what AMD's engineers think when they see things like these compared to their work.

Interesting... nothing would be lost if you purchased an SR-3 and two of the cheapest Xeon's you could find smile.gif The performance will still destroy.

Not quite.

3930K - 599.99 usd
Xeon E5-2687W - 1,826.99 usd

Also you don't need an SR3 board to run the Xeons. They'll work with all X79 boards

I see your post(s) as an attempt to defend your purchase decision of the 3930K. Therefore you do not view alternative arguments or viewpoints.

I would prefer my old xeon's over this.

A. cheaper

thats it.

If I had a job, I would buy one asap, need dem good rendering comps for autocad smile.gif

( didnt have enough money for a 2600k at the time of this build frown.gif )

This chip is good for ~18pts in Cinebench when over clocked to 4.8Ghz. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
4.8*6/13 = 2.2(8) = 17.6
Can you imagine two of these in an SR3?

I can indeed imagine it!

Can't wait to pick up two of them along with the SR3 in the new year. Sometimes, I get so excited about it that I can't sleep. I'm aware of how lame that is.

In an X79 board (single socket) the Xeon's pricetag doesn't make it worthwhile over a 3930k despite the performance bump.

Once you dump two into an SR3, the equation changes substantially and the rig becomes basically the same $/P as a 3930k rig.

$1,800+ USD is a pretty good argument...

Only someone who needs extreme multithreaded performance would get the 8-core Xeon at this point (mostly companies that benefit from high-performance servers).
