This is what we get 0:42. Its a nice bump in realism but PhysX should have been soo much futher along than this by now. These are the same type of comparisons they were showing us when it was first released many years ago. Of course its a nice feature and i use it, but it has remained sort of static in its progress. We should be seeing things like 1000s of individual blades of grass blowing in the wind in real time, and much more advanced partical systems at work. At the typical rate of progress of technology we should be at least somewhat closer to the point of this kind of realsim in actual gameplay (crysis 1 is a good example and that is years old now) "real flow demonstration below"

WE SHOULDNT BE IMPRESSED WITH CURRENT PHYSX. WE SHOULD BE SHAKING OUR HEADS AT THE LACK OF REAL PROGRESS.

If they treated video card technology, the same way they treat PhsyX technology, we wouldn't have progressed past a Radeon 9700 Pro and a Geforce Ti 4200....

imo, physx is a marketing gimmic. its not worth the performance hit it brings. i would much rather have stable game play vs flashy objects. as for batman ac, rocksteady dropped the ball on this one. big time.

PhysX is just good for adding flying newspapers in the Batman game.

When it comes to CPU PhysX, its extremely pathetic. APB is a fine example of that.

If I'd be impressed with PhysX, I wouldn't have bought an AMD card.

I really wish Nvidia ditch away PhysX or CUDA being proprietary and embrace open source standard. Much prefer AMD had it not been GPGPU.

PhysX is nice feature but not mind blowing.

Hahaha, seriously? Walking on paper again? This was a huge joke with the first Batman game.
I mean, I admit that it does make it look better in a way, but I get the feeling that a lot of PhysX titles only use PhysX for the sake of using it.

As far as I know the majority of the effects are automatically enabled with ATI cards. I had a friend with an ATI mobility card play mirrors edge while comparing to a physx on/off vid and he claims all the effects of Physx in the game were working with his ATI card. I do not know exactly how AMD app acceleration works, but with the little information provided on the AMD site it seems to be basically the same idea as Physx.

As mentioned by FireStorm, it does seems to be a gimmick. If ATI cards enable Physx features by default than what is Physx? its smoke and mirrors is what it is. It seems that when Geforce bought Physx technology they made a decision to kill it, or at least gimp it. Oh what Physx could have been.. oh the horror.

As FireStorm mentioned a marketing gimmick. my response is merely stating that you get no advantage to realism by having a nvidia physx enabled graphics card. You get all the "smoke and mirrors" with ATI cards. Yes you would think that having dedicated physx cards and what not they could get more advantage, but it hasn't been the case as far as I've seen. You would expect that it would have progressed more with the 3 years or so it's been owned by nvidia.

PhysX can be run on CPU alone. Although as of right now most game developers use outdated PhysX SDK, which makes PhysX very slow when run at CPU.

True but I never felt an advantage on either of my two physx enabled gpus I have owned.
