that whale video is "mostly" a calculation of physics. It would take only 1 properly developed Physx Card to run that video.

It would take 4 GTX 580s to run those Physics because "Video Cards" are not "Physics Cards."

just as:

It would take around 4-5 Core i7 980x Quads (no video card) to run Crysis at enthusiast Graphics settings, Because "CPUs" are not "GPUs"...

I have an i5-2500k, why isn't it programed to carry out the physX since I have a 6950, because anything that adds to the game, the more the better as long as fps are still acceptable

Here are a couple of examples of CPU PhysX that we should be so impressed of.
And I mean that sort of stuff keeps happening in APB, these are not some extremely rare cases.

PhysX is useless to 50% of average gamers

Why any dev would alienate 50% of their customers is beyond me.

Why nvidia would make it increasingly more difficult to use PhysX with a non-nVidia card is completely illogical as well.

and then people wonder why it hasn't caught on with developers

You can, sure. But your chip won't do it efficiently, and the game will run like trash.

I don't understand how Nvidia can see the need to create a tesla card that processes calculations and not see the need for a fully developed physics card that processes physics. Maybe because the tesla card is a huge money maker from the corporate sector, and Physx didn't initially wow the gaming community enough to seen as a real money maker.. If only they would have tried a little harder it would have caught on.
