My 2600$ Christmas Build ; Including Monitor + 6990 + Speaker Setup (Advice) - Page 2

+1 to the case you chose! biggrin.gif That's the case I'm getting for my Christmas build as well. thumb.gif
The i5 2500k is definitely what you want if you'll mostly use your build for gaming. i7 2600k would be a worthy upgrade if you're going to be video editing.
I'd recommend the Crucial m4 for an SSD. They're some of the fastest SSD's on the market right now.
1200watt PSU is super overkill for your build. I'd recommend dropping that down a few notches.
Like others have said, new AMD cards are right around the corner, so if you can wait I'd definitely recommend it.
Drop your RAM to 8gb unless you plan on doing things like photo editing, video editing, 3D rendering, etc.

I think its smart to get a 1200w PSU even if you dont need it, as if you want to add more graphics cards your fine, or in the future for your next build you dont have to worry about selling yours at a loss if you need more power.

Wow didn't now there was a HAF 942.. Make sure to get some dust filters.. that case eats dust. I have to week my case weekly and I have one pet who barely shed any fur. For that much money, I would of gotten something else.

I have just postponed the build for quite some time now , I think this build ; regardless of what's coming out in a few months will suit me for awhile. The 6990 ain't no joke.

You will definitely want a 120/128GB one thumb.gif ESPECIALY if you are planing to install more games than Minesweeper tongue.gif
As said many times, unless you really need all that RAM, 8GB is enough smile.gif
As for the 300GB Raptors, they;ll do great. There's not much point in buying new HDDs at the price they are now if you already have other drives to use smile.gif
(I also agree with the above poster. If you can wait a bit, Nvidia 5xx Card prices will rocket down for AMDs new cards. (As far as I know, Nvidia are delayed? confused.gif) and they'll have to lower prices if they want to keep some of the market.
AMD prices will decrease too, but you can also get your hands on some newer tech if you prefer that thumb.gif
EDIT: If you don't do any Video editing, ect, your much better with a 2500k
It's the sweet spot for gaming smile.gif

All of this makes complete since , +1 for all the nice suggestions man. Thanks.

I'll go with the Crucial M4 ! I would drop it down to 8gb ; maybe 2133mhz?

Thank's for the heads up man , I'm glad I included the monitor. I was actually thinking of running eyefinity right now instead og waiting , how do these monitors look? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824236117&nm_mc=EMC-IGNEFL112511&cm_mmc=EMC-IGNEFL112511-_-EMC-112511-Index-_-LCDMonitors-_-24236117-L0L
Would buying x3 of those be worth it for 129.99?

What case would you suggest?

Changed a lot of stuff on the list , what do you guys think ? I'm hoping the monitors will do just fine because they are on sale. The 2500k is out of stock on new egg, so why not upgrade to the 2600k ?
Overall , i feel pretty satisfied. thumb.gif

If you can spend the money, go for it, who cares the i7 2600k is overkill for gaming but you might not be bottlenecked with a 6990.
